Apprentice Teacher: Travis Hickox

Observer: Ms. Stickle (6th Grade Math/Science)

Date: 02/06/2018

Math practice intro with math packets out.

Math: Interactive video with more pactet work on percents and fractions. Would
have been good if students were allowed to come up to the board and record their
answers.
Science: Transitioned from math into a science activity on phases for the second
half of the class. Groups were assigned to make a phases (physical movement)
while the rest of the class had to guess.

Teacher wanders around the room answering questions. Didn’t stay until the end.

General observations:
Classroom management: Counted down from 10, used positive reinforcement by saying things
like, “Thank you _____ for being on task.”, group work.

The class was more lecture based with answers given, when learners could have given answers.
Teacher also enters answer in the interactive when this could have been a good moment for

learners to do so. Higher level questions weren’t observed. Desks were also in rows, not the
best formation for group work.
