LEARNING PLAN FOR MATHEMATICS GRADE 7

DATE: July 9-13, 2018 QUARTER: First

WEEK: 6 TEACHER: Mr. Melvin V. Vallente

Content Standard: The learners demonstrate understanding of key concepts of sets and the real number system.
Performance Standard: The learners shall be able to formulate challenging situations involving sets and real
numbers and solve these in a variety of strategies.

EQ: How helpful is are integers in our daily lives?

EU: Integers are helpful in our day to day encounter.

Learning Competencies:
The learners should be able to:
1. represents the absolute value of a number on a number line as the distance of a number from 0.
2. performs fundamental operations on integers.

FIRST-SECOND MEETING
I. Learning Targets: At the end of the lesson the students can
a. define the term absolute value.
b. represent absolute value of a number on a number line.
c. discriminate inequality
d. add and subtract integers

II. Subject Matter: Set of Integers and Operations on Integers

III. Materials
Visual aids
Chalk & Whiteboard Marker

IV. Preliminaries (5 minutes)

a. Prayer and Action Song
b. Checking of Attendance & Classroom Setting
c. Review
V. Procedure
A. Explore: “think positive” (15 minutes)
 The teacher will flash on the screen certain questions that are negative in manner.
Students raise their hands if they want to answer.
Process Questions:
1. What will you do if your best friend betrayed you?
2. How will you feel if your pet died?
3. What will you say to the person who leaved you?
4. What is your last message to your family if they will migrate to states?
5. How will you respond to bullying?
6. When your down, how do you react to it?
 The teacher will ask the students to clap their hands to those who answered the questions
and will emphasize that no matter how sad and down we are, no matter how many
negativities you have in your life, there is something within you to be positive of. (God
gave us trials because he knows we can overcome such with him)
 The teacher will then introduce to the students the lesson and the objectives for the day.

B. Firm-Up: “Direct Instruction and Inquiry-Based Learning” (20 minutes)

 The teacher will define terminologies and will discuss the Absolute Value, adding and
subtracting Integers.
 The teacher will discuss first the Absolute value, followed by the inequality and adding
and subtracting integers.
 The teacher will also give enough examples and will entertain questions coming from the
students for clarification and full understanding.

C. Deepen: Application (20 minutes)

 The teacher will give board work activity and at the same time will roam around to see if
each student is doing right.
 The teacher will put emphasis on the analogy of relating the lesson to the following:
Values Integration:
a. Humility- The ability to show humbleness to others despite of the status they are
in. (being humble especially to people who used to see themselves as inferior from
others)
Integration to Social Issues:
a. Pessimistic- People nowadays only focus their attention on the negative impact of
something. They are afraid of trying new ways because they think of the
disadvantages of such without even looking into the possibilities that may help
them progress. Example: (traditional versus modern way of farming)
Integration to other Subject:
a. PHYSICS- understanding in absolute value is important in getting the accuracy and
precision of measurements in an experiment.

D. Summary of the Lesson: “Shape up review” (5 minutes)

 Students will choose one shape out of the four.
Heart- one thing you love about the lesson
Triangle- three important terms in the lesson
Square- four concepts you learned today
E. Agreement:
 Let the students read in advance the next topic.

F. Closing Prayer:
 Call a student to lead the prayer.

THIRD MEETING
I. Learning Targets: At the end of the lesson the students can
a. perform multiplication and division on integers
b. solve problems involving integers

II. Subject Matter: Multiplying and Dividing Integers

III. Materials
Visual aids
Chalk & Whiteboard Marker

IV. Preliminaries (5 minutes)

a. Prayer and Action Song
b. Checking of Attendance & Classroom Setting
c. Review of the previous lesson
V. Procedure
A. Explore: “how many times?” (15 minutes)
 The students will be grouped by column and the teacher will flash on the screen certain
numbers involving operation. In every game, the group must have different contestants.
The first person to raise his/her hand will be given the chance to answer. The group who
garnered the highest score will be the winner
 The teacher will then introduce to the students the lesson and the objectives for the day.
B. Firm-Up: “Direct Instruction and Inquiry-based Learning” (30 minutes)
 The teacher will define terminologies and will discuss the Multiplication and Division on
Integers
 The teacher will also explain the rules of signs.
 The teacher will also give enough examples and will entertain questions coming from the
students for clarification and full understanding.
 The teacher will also have a board work activity
C. Deepen: “Application” (20 minutes)
1. Students will be ask to answer page 63 practice and application numbers 1-6 in a one-
fourth sheet of paper.
Values Integration:
a. Perseverance- consistency in doing and trying things despite of failing. Just like in
solving problems and manipulating operations, we should try and try for us to
know and fully understand the lesson.
Integration to Social Issues:
a. The war in China and Philippines due to the division of territories and boundary.
Integration to other Subject: MAPEH
a. The skill in multiplying and dividing integers is very useful most especially in
getting and solving the BMI or Body Mass Index.
D. Summary of the Lesson: “Wrapping Up” (5 minutes)
 Students will be asked to get one-fourth sheet of paper and will write their learnings.
E. Agreement:
 Bring bond paper next meeting

G. Closing Prayer:
 Call a student to lead the prayer.
