for the lesson Look around your house. Name an object or thing that is a plane figure or has a
plane figure.

Remember this: A plane figure have two-dimensions, the length and width. A
plane figure can be made of straight lines, curved lines, or both straight and curved
lines.

new lesson

What have you notice in the following objects above?

Solid figures have three dimensions the length, width and the height. Solid figures
are made up of plane figures.

concepts and practicing
new skill #1 Activity: Common Commonalities

The teacher will show a set of prisms then the pupils will tell the commonalities of
the following prisms. They will share first their answer with their partner and after
five minutes each partner will share it to everyone in the messenger classroom.

Set of prisms:

A prism is a solid figure whose two bases are congruent polygon in parallel
planes, and the other faces called lateral faces, are parallelograms.
E. Discussing new Other Solid Figures:
concepts and practicing
new skill #2 A pyramid is a space figure in which one face is called the base, and the other
faces, called lateral faces, are triangles having a common vertex called the apex.

There are solid figures that are bounded by curve surfaces.

A cylinder has congruent circular bases that are parallel.

A cone has circular base and all line segments from a circle meet at point called
apex.

A sphere is a solid figure with all points on its surface equidistant from the center.

F. Developing mastery The teacher will give 5 minutes to his/her pupils to answer the 10-item assessment

. Finding practical The teacher will ask the pupils to get a paper and pen. The pupils will draw 3
applications of concepts solid figures that can be seen inside their house and after that they will show to
and skills in daily living everyone in the messenger classroom.
H. Making generalizations Solid figures are 3-dimensional figures made up of plane figures where all sides
and abstractions about the are joint together to form a closed figure. They are sometimes called space or
lesson spatial figures.
