Abstract

This study aimed to determine the classroom engagement strategies of


senior high school teachers and its effect on students’ engagement and
attendance. This study was conducted at Bambad National High School in
January 2020 where the participants involved in the study were the senior
high school teachers and students. This study utilized a descriptive evaluation
research design. The survey-questionnaire method was the research
instruments to use for data-gathering where it was be tabulated, analyzed and
interpreted using descriptive statistics.
Findings revealed that among the classroom management strategies of
senior high school teachers, ‘address behavior and encourage initiative’
obtained the highest results while the ‘write group contracts’ obtained the
lowest rating. Meanwhile, the majority of senior high school teachers
experienced many challenges in their classroom management strategies.
Among those challenges encountered ‘limitations of disciplining students’
obtained the highest rating. The result revealed that students’ attendance
obtained a “very high” level and engagement in terms of cognitive, affective,
behavioral and emotional obtained a “high” level.
