Introduction to the organization
National Integrated Development Association (NIDA-Pakistan) is a non-governmental
organization committed to aiding underprivileged communities across Pakistan, including Gilgit
Biltistan, the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) and Azad Jammu Kashmir (AJK).
NIDA-Pakistan is registered with Government of Pakistan under the Societies Registration Act
1860.

NIDA-Pakistan intervenes in both in disaster and non-disaster situations, aiming for the
sustainable development of marginalized communities. Since its registration in August 2008,
NIDA-Pakistan has directly implemented 20 different research and implementation projects in
Pakistan, large and small.
NIDA-Pakistan has undertaken its projects in areas of health, education, livelihood, water,
sanitation and hygiene (WASH), human rights, peace and development, human and institutional
development, and Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR).

The organization has also contributed to emergency relief, recovery, rehabilitation and
development of rural and urban communities across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) and in parts of
Punjab province. Inclusion of all sections of the community is a key focus of NIDA-Pakistan’s
interventions.

Objectives
 To ensure organized efforts of locals for making their lives better.
 To improve the livelihood conditions of poor communities through integrated interventions in
NRM, enterprise development and micro credit.
 To provide clean drinking water and building up sanitation infrastructure in Pakistan,
especially remote rural areas.
 To provide health care services in women reproductive health, childcare, HIV/AIDS,
tuberculosis and other communicable diseases.
 To impart skills and knowledge to improve human and institutional development through
training and consultancies with NGOs, CBOs, and community groups.
 To facilitate women empowerment through interventions for women rights, gender and equal
participation of women in leadership and decision making.
 To contribute in developing quality education through enhancing capacity of existing systems
with conscious efforts for increasing literacy in girls and deserving sections of society.
 To enable and engage youth in a constructive discourse for social and physical development.
 To organize events for promotion of peace, culture and harmony
 To network with likeminded organizations and forums for collective efforts at local, national
and international levels.

BOD and Management of NIDA-Pakistan


Board of Directors (BOD)
NIDA is headed by an autonomous Board of Directors (BOD) consisting of seven members. The
BOD members are senior professionals, having vast experience in community based
development approaches/interventions with diversified academic and professional backgrounds.
BOD members are responsible for the policy advices to NIDA-Pakistan Management and
Programs. BOD members meet quarterly and whenever any meeting is needed regarding policy

Linkages, partnerships and networking


Networking
NIDA-Pakistan has established strong working relationship with local NGOs, such as, Sarhad
Rural Support Program (SRSP), BAD II, DDS, MDO, DBS and other like-minded organizations.
NIDA-Pakistan regularly participates in coordination meetings, activities and training programs
and has established partnerships with these organizations for synergy. NIDA-Pakistan is member
of different networks, i.e., RNCF and AASHA. These networks are very useful and provide
opportunities of capacity building, experience sharing, and resource sharing and; also fund
raising.

Partnerships
NIDA-Pakistan has also established good working relations with public sector institutions at the
district and provincial levels, such as, Forest Department, Soil Conservation Department, Water
Management Department, BADP (Health), Sericulture Department, Agriculture Extension
Department, Livestock and Diary Department and Local government. NIDA-Pakistan has
received funds for Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority - Aik Hunar Aik Nagar
(AHAN) The Asia Foundation (TAF), Sarhad Rural Support Program (SRSP), Action Aid USAID,
UNICEF and UNDP-GEF. NIDA-Pakistan always works in line with public departments. In all the
campaigns / programs of NIDA-Pakistan, district government officials, DC, EDO Health, EDO
Agriculture, EDO Education, DFO Forest Department, social and political activists and local elders
participate and fully cooperate. The District Forest Department is a close partner of NIDA for
working together on natural resources management.
