IIEE Abu Dhabi Chapter – 4th Technical Seminar, General Assembly and Election of 2018 BOD Officers

Part I. 4th Technical Seminar

IIEE Abu Dhabi Chapter held its 4th Technical Seminar entitled “Industrial Automation” last September
15, 2017 at the Royal Rose Hotel, Abu Dhabi. The seminar was attended by a total of 103 delegates
including the licensed and non-licensed electrical practitioners.

The seminar started at 9:00 a.m thru an invocation led by Engr. Imelda A. Alvero, REE, followed by the
UAE and Philippine National Anthem and IIEE Hymn. Engr. Elmer Elmer O. Casao, PEE, unlocked the
event by giving his enthusiastic welcoming remarks.

Thereafter, the two (2) major sponsors conducted their presentation in order for them to promote and
motivate the members into their business. The technical presentations were led by Mr. Eric R. Magsipoc,
Sales Operations Officer of Sta. Lucia Land Inc. in Abu Dhabi & Dubai and Dr. Rex Bacarra, a PHD from De
La Salle University Manila.
After a short coffee break, Engr. Lilet P. Dalisay, REE, warmly introduced the technical speaker of the day
in person of Engr. Vincent S. Apil, a Professional Electrical Engineer, a member of IIEE UAE Chapter and
an Electrical Engineer more than 15 years of rich and extensive experience in instrumentation, control
systems & automation with expertise in safety instrumented system for process, oil & gas and utility
industry.

The whole part of the discussion covered the following:

1. Basic Applications of:
a. ICS – Industrial Control Systems
b. SCADA – Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition
c. EMS – Energy Monitoring System
d. DCS – Distributed Control System
e. PLC – Programmable Logic Control
2. Basic Concept of Control System;
3. PLC in Various Application and;
4. Stages to Automation Control System Specification, Design and Installation

The seminar was ended by giving the Plaque of Appreciation to Engr. Vincent S. Apil, PEE, led by Engr.
Elmer O. Casao, IIEE Abu Dhabi Chapter President, together with the three (3) Vice Presidents, Engr.
Celeste M. Infante, VP-Internal Affairs, Engr. Roger M. Nadela, VP-External Affairs & Engr. Salman D.
Moncatar VP-Technical Affairs.
In brief, IIEE Abu Dhabi Chapter proved and celebrated another successful event on its 4th Technical
Seminar with the continuous support of its members. Special thanks to the members, technical speaker,
guest and sponsors who joined and made it as another significant one.

Part II. GENERAL MEMBERSHIP ASSEMBLY & ELECTION OF OFFICERS

The general membership of the chapter was captured at around two o’clock in the afternoon
immediately after the 4th Technical Seminar was concluded.

Engr. Elmer O. Casao, IIEE Abu Dhabi President, declared the forum after determining 72 out of 143 or
52% official members present in the meeting.

As a start, he presented and recited to the members the Board Resolution which was the “Resolution to
approve and confirm the Agreed IIEE Abu Dhabi Interim Chapter's Schedule of Fees”.

On the motion moved by Dr. Eldino Albert V. Caballes, duly seconded by Engr. Epifanio P. Raquinio Jr. the
Board Resolution to approve and confirm the Agreed IIEE Abu Dhabi Interim Chapter's Schedule of Fees
was approved.

The business arisen during the meeting was raised by Engr. Jayson T. Landayan, IIEE Abu Dhabi Treasurer
regarding the main participation of the Registered Master Electrician. He suggested creating a
committee for the RMEs to avoid the issues concerning their role in the organization. Since, there were
no more matters to discuss; the chapter proceeds on the Election of the 2018 Board of Directors.
Dr. Eldino Albert V. Caballes, a member of the COMELEC Committee, called the 19 official nominees and
briefly discuss their platforms as per the following:

Each member of the chapter gave their full trust in voting who they believe will be the next batch of
leaders of IIEE Abu Dhabi Chapter.

Later, the COMELEC announced the list/result of the election for the incoming set of Officers for IIEE
Abu Dhabi BOD 2018.
