General Visual Inspection of the Left and Right Elevator LVDT Connectors (MRB# 052000−304)
1. General
A. The maintenance procedure that follows is for the general visual inspection of the left and right
elevator LVDT (Linear Variable Differential Transformer) connectors. This procedure is for the
Lightning/High Intensity Radiated Fields protection on the left and right elevator LVDT
connectors. The LVDTs are located in the horizontal stabilizer.

3. Job Set−Up

A. Obey all the electrical/electronic safety precautions (Refer to TASK 24−00−00−910−801).

B. Obey all the electrostatic discharge safety precautions (Refer to TASK 12−00−06−861−802).

C. For the left hand side, open the access panel that follows:

4. Procedure
Refer to Figure 602.
Subtask 05−20−00−210−002

A. Do a general visual inspection of the Lightning/High Intensity Radiated Fields protection on the
left and right LVDT (1) electrical connectors (2) as follows:
(1) Look at the connectors on the LVDTs (1).
(2) Make sure that all connectors and backshells are correctly installed.
(3) Make sure that all connectors are in a good condition and are not damaged.
(4) Make sure that no red witness bands (indicators) on the connectors are visible.
NOTE: If the red witness band is visible, the backshell is unlocked. Refer to the Wiring
Diagram Manual, PSM 1−84−2W, 20−15−10−401, as necessary for information
about the applicable maintenance corrective−action.
(5) Make sure that the ground wire on each transformer body is not worn or damaged.
(6) Make sure that each ground stud (3) is correctly installed.

5. Close Out

A. Remove all tools, equipment and unwanted materials from the work area.
