1.0 Title: De-choking of Bottom Ash Hopper (BAH).

2.0 Purpose: To avoid accumulation and clinker formation in BAH.

3.0 Scope: Boiler 1, 2, 3 BAH.

4.0 Activities:
Sr. No. Activity Description Responsibility
1 Observe slurry flowing through Clinker Grinder (CG) from Round Operator
M/H watch glass during Bottom Deashing process.
2 Inform Shift Incharge & Ash operator if there may be a problem Operator
of choking or frequent tripping of CG. Inform Panel operator for
maintain negative Furnace Draft & Stop soot Blowing operation
if running, before opening Round M/H.
3 Close sluice gate and open round M/H, clean portion above CG Operator
and start CG Reverse, then Forward and run continue.
4 Ensure BAH filled with water through sufficient over flow and Operator
Open Sluice gate gradually up to safe lift for De-choking purpose.
5 Broke clinker from sluice gate opening with poking rod carefully Operator
and ensure CG is running continuous during this activity. This
activity is to be done only in wet/flooded condition.
6 Open sluice gate further up to CG taking sufficient load and Operator
chamber above CG not over flooded.
7 De-choke obstructed clinkers carefully, close sluice gate and Operator
boxed up Round M/H.
8 Start CG, open sluice gate gradually, start regular Bottom Operator
Deashing process again to empty out BAH . Observe furnace light
from all watch glasses and ensure BAH is completely empty.
9 Close sluice gate, CG and start water filling in BAH and ensure Operator
sufficient over flow.
