Lesson: Willow’s story
Type of the lesson: acquiring new informatin - Present Tense Simple
Textbook: Fairyland
Grade: 4th grade
Time : 45 minutes
Lesson aims:
1.to introduce Present Tense Simple-affirmative.
2.to practice the use of Present Tense Simple.
3.to give students more practice on grammar, pronunciation and vocabulary .
4.to keep the students interested in the subject;

Objectives

By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:

1. to use Present Tense Simple in sentences;


2. to complete some tasks based on the topic ;
3. to understand homework assignment.

Techniques: discussion, exercise, explanation, learning by discovering.


Skills: listening, reading, writing, speaking.
Materials: textbook,worksheets, blackboard.
Interaction: T-Ss, Ss – T, group work .
Anticipated problems: The Ss may not understand some oral commands or tasks; if this
happens, they will be translated into Romanian.
STAGES OF THE LESSON

Activity 1: Warm up
Aim: -preparing the class for the new lesson
- to relax the students
- to stir interest and promote discussion
- to create involvement in the giving task

Time: 5 minutes
Interaction: T-Ss, Ss -T
Procedure: Teacher greets the class. Teacher makes sure the class is prepared for the new
lesson and checks if they are all present. Teacher asks his students a few questions about their
previous class and corrects their homework.
Teacher asks students questions about their daily activities .
Teacher informs students about the lesson’s aims, writes the title of the new lesson and the
date on the blackboard.

Activity 2
Aim:
- to introduce the topic of the lesson

Time: 13 minutes
Interaction: T-Ss, Ss – T
Procedure: Teacher gives students worksheets. Students have to read the sentences and to
find out how the Present Tense Simple is formed ( S+V , when we have he,she, it, we add „ –
s”, „- es” to the verb) . Students are asked to solve next exercise, applying the rule, they have
to choose the right form of the verb.

Activity 3
Aim:
- to practice Present Tense Simple

Time: 15 minutes
Interaction:T – Ss,Ss – T, group work.
Procedure: Students are divided in four groups, each group gets a name and an exercise with
5 different sentences each.
Red team has to say if the sentences are correct or not and to correct them if is necessary.
Blue team has to complete the sentences with the right form of the verbs in brackets.
Green team has to underline the correct form of the verbs.
Purple team has to add „ –s” or „ –es” to the verbs.
Students read the sentences . The winning team will receive an extra point to the next test
paper.

Activity 4 Feedback
Time: 10 minutes
Interaction: T- Ss, Ss - T
Procedure: Teacher gives students worksheets. Students have to write the sentences in the
third person singular. At the end, students switch the worksheets and correct the sentences.
Teacher checks the sentences.

Homework
Time: 2 minutes
Procedure: Ex.3 page 31. Teacher explains the task. Students have to complete the text with
the given verbs.
Teacher praises the students and greets them.
