Cognitive aims:
- To recognize the difference between demonstrative pronouns,
- To understand the meaning of a simple text,
- To write new words.
Affective aims:
- to stimulate Ss’ imagination and creativity
- to give students confidence in their ability to read and understand English.
Anticipated problems:
- because some students may not properly understand the tasks, many oral
commands will be translated into Romanian;
- there may occur vocal pauses, voice volume too soft, rate of speaking too fast or slow
etc.
Activity 1:
Aim:-to warm Ss up
Timing:2’
Interaction: Ss-T,T-Ss
Procedure: T greets class and inquires about Ss’ mood. T asks for absentees.
Activity 2:
Aim: - to check previous taught knowledge and homework
Timing:5’
Interaction: T-Ss, Ss-T
Procedure: Teacher asks Ss to read homework and write the answers on the
blackboard(if necessary)
Activity 3(lead-in):
Aim- to introduce the new topic and awaken interest
Timing: 3’
Interaction: T-Ss, Ss-T
Procedure: Teacher asks the Ss to open their book at the new lesson, look at the
pictures and try to guess that the text is going to be about.
Activity 4:
Aim- Reading developing skills
Timing: 7’
Interaction: T-Ss, Ss-T
Procedure: . T reads the new text out loud. T explains the new words and writes them on
the blackboard. T asks Ss to read the new text and corrects their reading mistakes. T
finds together with the pupils the meaning of the sentence and corrects students
interpretation mistakes.
Activity 5
Aim- to identify the difference between This/That and These/ Those
Timing: 3’
Interaction: T-Ss, Ss-T
Procedure: T writes down on the blackboard This/That and These/ Those and explains
the meaning of the new words, gives examples in different sentences, asks students to
repeat new words and to recognize them in the text.
Activity 6 (Feed-back)
Aim- to ensure feedback for the previously learned information
Timing: 10’
Interaction: T-Ss, Ss- Ss, Ss-T
Procedure: Ss receive a worksheet containing exercises using This/That and These/
Those. They have to rely on the pictures in order to determine the right word.
Activity 7:
Aim- homework assignment
Timing: 3’
Interaction: T-Ss
Procedure: T asks Ss to solve ex. 3 from the workbook using This/That and These/
Those
