Balibago Waterworks System, Inc. (BWSI) provides utility services. The Company

offers water supply services. BWSI acquires, establishes, develops, manages, and operates

waterworks utility system. I was assigned in the accounting department along with the other

OJT’s, wherein my duty is from Monday to Saturday and it starts from 8:00 to 12:00. I always

arrived early at the Balibago Waterworks System, Inc. (BWSI). When I arrive in the office we

will start to do the continuation of my unfinished task from the other day and if it si already

finished I will wait for my superior to ask for a task to be done.

During my 200 hours On-the-job training in the BWSI, I was instructed several things

in the office. I performed administrative duties such as sorting, filing, arranging

files/documents, encoding, recording journal entries and photocopying CWT and other

documents. This is mostly a common duty of an OJT in Accounting department, I’m always

on duty of sorting (months, number series of checks and departments), filing and arranging

documents, since there are a lots of voucher that are need to be kept so when they are

needed they are easily to find. We were instructed during our orientation to always initiate to

ask for a task to be done, and accepts duties given by others employees even if we still have

a job on hand. Sometimes they allow me to encode and try to balance some of the checks or

receipts and if I do not know what to do, they are always open for question. They also allows

us to record the transaction and entries that incurred for a certain month. Sometimes I

photocopied documents because of documents needs to have a duplicate copy for filling of

the original copies.

while we do our works/task. She is very kind and

hardworking person. She is the one who gave

nicknames to every one of us.

Tricia Dawn Tegio, we call her by tegy tegy. I met her

during our training. She is a very kind and hardworking

person. If I have a lot of work/task to do and she is

done with her, instead of going to rest like her superior

told her, she will help me finish mine, and I do the

same with her, when I’m not doing anything.

Irish Anne Guevarra, we call her by ishy bambam. I

met her during my training, she also shares a lot

herself.
Abegail Mazon, we call her by abi. Like Jhea

she also jokes around and she always shares

her food to us. She is from treasury department

but she come to our department to help us do

our works, because sometimes she do not have

duty to do.

they like to joke around that is why when they

started joking we will stop laughing because of

them and their jokes.

the business development department and

sometimes she comes to our room to helps us

do.

ask if what his name is. He gives as words of

wisdom about life when we are doing our work to.

Kuya Rico is jolly person, he always jokes

around when he see us. I did not immediately

got close to him because he is not from the

accounting department, we just see and met

him when we are waiting outside the room.

Ma’am Joy, She is the my superior whom i got when my

first superior resigned in the company. She is a very

considerate superior, when I made some mistakes with

my work she tells what part that I made an error and she

helps me to correct it. When I finish my training and I had

my reporting she told me the things she likes when I was

still training under her supervision, and I can also use

those in the future when I’m working in a corporation where a real employee.

All of them are the people that helps me to my everyday training in the company, if it

was not for them I think I have already given up, because of too much things to do.

Sometimes I do not know what to do anymore because of busy schedule in the company

and school they help me survive the everyday pressure I always face during my training. To

all my superior, they gives us guides and clear instruction for us or for me to do the right

V. AN EVALUATION OF MY TRAINING

A. Office Procedures Learned and Applied

In Accounting Department, I was instructed how to provide administrative dutiessuch

as sorting, labeling, tallying, filing, arranging files/documents, photocopying several

documents and encoding checks or receipts.

I was able to apply my course in the department where I am assigned which really

gave me more knowledge and had provided me enough information regarding the current

operations and services of the corporation. I was able to apply recording entries in the

general journal book for year 2018 and balance them and remove entries that has zero

amount, because it means they forgot to remove it during computation so they ask as to

remove entries that ha a zero balance, I was also able to apply encoding of receipts and

trying to balance them in order for them to balance all the income and expenses for that

month. The office procedures that I learned is that every employee have different task.

I also learned that you need to have consideration or patient with your work and

that’s one thing I applied to myself, because there are a lot of check vouchers to be sort,

filed and arrange by their departments and there series of check numbers .

I also learned that employees of BWSI are considerate and systematic to their given

task for example is the balancing of statements of different branches of the company, which

they need to be accurate to what they would input to balance all the amounts and also in

filling of documents, which they thought us, it must be accurate before they put it on a folder

to be easy to looked if ever they will need it.

VI. OBSERVED ORGANIZATIONAL VALUES

Interpersonal Relationships

I observed that the employees of Balibago Waterworks System, Inc. love

what they are doing; they share their knowledge with their co-workers and help each

other to solve a problem on hand, they enjoyed their everyday life in the office, they

treat each other as one family and even have nicknames for every co-workers, they

share what they have like foods/drinks or anything they can share about themselves

and also they respect each of their opinions whenever they have their

conversations.

Working relationship with Executive & Co-workers

The executives of BWSI have a good relationship with their employees. They

know what their duties are and responsibilities and they know how to handle their

employees well. They share different knowledge, opinions and skills to help each

other, so that their work will be easier for them and they have the unity to perform

task. They move and act as one family in the office.

Teamwork

Teamwork is the process of working collaboratively with a group of people in

order to achieve a goal. It also involves different people and different groups across

the departments and branches of the company working together to maximize their

efficiency and reach their common goal. Teamwork means that people will try to

cooperate, using their individual skills and providing useful feedback, despite any

personal conflict between individuals. As an OJT at BWSI, I observed that the

Teamwork in company is help and give their opinions about the problem on

hand and to be able give solutions to the problem, and I also observed their

teamwork when they are auditing the transactions, some of the accountant of other

branches would come to the main branch to help in solving and checking the
balances. They also share their knowledge, they work as a group, they help each

other and they respect each other’s opinion about the problem.

Quality of Service Delivered

 They make sure that the water delivered to the costumers is clear and has no

dirt.

 Installation of new pumps and motors for clear water

 Chlorination of water sources to have a clear water delivered in the costumers

 Connection of households & businesses to mainlines, so the water would not

just stop from coming in the of households & businesses

 Meter reading, billing & payment collection

 After Sales Services (Repairs of leaks & broken meters)

Punctuality

The attendance and coming in time is strictly observed in the company.

Punctuality shows that they are dedicated to the job, interested in the work and

capable of handling responsibility. When they arrive on time for work or work-related

activities, it shows that they are capable of honoring their word to come in time.

Being punctual helps employees project a sense of professionalism and

commitment. When employees are punctual, the workplace operates more smoothly

as a whole. In the office, there are some of the employees are coming late, but it is

not an everyday attitude, some are late once in a week, some are late once in a

month. It’s up to them if they will come late because it is their own records and it is

their responsibility to come in the office in time.

Personal Grooming

I observe that the personal grooming of every employees in the company. Personal

grooming is important for a positive self-image and every effort should be made to

encourage and assist the resident to maintain a pleasing and attractive appearance.

Sometimes appearance may show the professionalism of a employees. These are

the following personal grooming habits of employees I observed in the company.

 Everyone should be clean and neat in their personal hygiene.

 Use the proper attire required

 Always smile to your co-workers and clients

 Demonstrate a Positive attitude

 Having an eye to eye contact whoever they are speaking to.

 They are always professional all the time

 They are friendly to everyone

 Uses good manners in any situation

 They don not interrupt or argue with other employees

VII. PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED DURING MY TRAINING AND HOW I SOLVED

THEM

The first problem I encountered during my training. Some of the cash vouchers are

missing. I have to look for the missing check vouchers, because if I do not find them and

they will be needed in the future. I will be held liable for the missing vouchers since I’m the

one filing the check vouchers. I notice that there is lost voucher when I’m checking the

number series, because before I put them in the filing cabinet I have to check it again if the

series of checks are aligned to what my superior instructed me to do. When I found out that

there is a missing check voucher I tried checking the other voucher folder I filed, maybe I put

it in the other folders with different label. After checking all the folders I filed, I found the

missing vouchers by looking for it in all the folders I filed, I accidentally staple it in one of the

attachment.

The second problem I encountered during my training is that my previous

supervisor resigned in the company, that time I was lost to what should I do because

everyone is busy and I did not want to disturb them and ask who will my supervisor will be. I

know that all the employees in the accounting department already have their own OJT’s.

They told me to wait for the further instruction, while I still do not have a superior who will

give me a work/task, I help my co-OJT’s to their work. Some of their work given to them is

the work/duties left by my previous supervisor. I help carry boxes in the volt for storing of the

files from the previous years. it’s been three days and I still do not have a superior, I took the

initiative to ask again and also ask if their still someone who will be needing a OJT, and they

told me that Ma’am Joy don’t have an intern. During my training under Ma’am Joy there are

times that I don’t have anything to do so I just helped my co-OJT to their task. The problem

was solved by having the initiative to do something and help the others to their task while

waiting.
The third problem I encountered in sorting, filling and arranging of documents.

There are attachment that got detached to the vouchers, like receipts and petty cash

voucher for the replenishment of every department. There are a lot documents because the

files we were sorting and arranging are from previous years and we don’t know from what

vouchers are those attachment are. I was able to find the cash vouchers that have missing

attachments by applying the knowledge I gain from my previous supervisor on how to know

what attachment are included in a check voucher. In this problem I learned that in sorting

and filing there will be times that some attachments will get detached from their respective

check voucher, so all we have to do is to have patience in looking the entire document one

by one from all the previous years.

The fourth problem I encountered is the balancing of creditable withholding tax of

every branch of the company. When I finish the encoding and inputting of the amount to be

withheld, I checked the balance of the system and solved the balance of my superior, I

realize that there is a discrepancy of the tax withheld. I told my superior about the

discrepancy of amount and she told me that I have to check the entire amount I inputted in

the system and maybe there is a miscalculation of tax withheld. When checking all the

amounts I found out that an amount was inputted twice in the BIR system.

Lastly the problem I encountered is that my first evaluation got misplaced. At first I

don’t know what to do because I don’t have another evaluation paper and my previous

supervisor already resigned, and yes I can get evaluation paper by borrowing to my co-

OJT’s who haven’t had their evaluation and photocopied it. I can also get re-evaluate by

other employees but the reason of this problem is I want my evaluation to be fair. Some of

the other employees will not be able to give me a fair evaluation. What if I need

improvements and the one who will re-evaluate me will give high evaluation, and what if I

already improve and they gave me I low evaluation, and that would not be fair evaluation for

me. The reason is that they are not the one who gave me a work to do during my training,

they do not know if I’m doing well or still in need of improvements and what part of my
training that still needs of improvement, or if ever I still lack of improvement. I think of the

other ways to solve this problem, and then I came up of a solution where I can get my first

evaluation, without being unfair to what part of my training already improve and still need of

improvement. So I just ask permission from the other employees whom sometime give me a

task, if they can evaluate me for my first 100 hours.

VIII. OBSERVATION AND RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE STUDENT INTERN IN

THEIR HOST ESTABLISHMENT

My experience in the on-the job training program is really an unforgettable

experience. It showed me a lot of things that I will cherish as an individual/person. I have

been developed a lot during my 200 hours of stay in Balibago Waterworks System. It made

me realize to become competent and responsible with my duties and focus on whatever I

have to work so that the job will be easily done. I is recommendable to the next interns to

apply in BWSI, they will learned how working environment really works. I learned a lot of

things even some of the work/task were clerical duties.
