History Brick

The bricks are used as construction element from about 11,000 years ago. The
first to use them were farmers of Neolithic ceramic pre Levante to 9500s since
in the areas where they built their cities barely existed wood and stone. The
Sumerians and Babylonians its bricks dried in the sun; however, to reinforce its
walls and ramparts on the external parts, the daubed with cooked, because
these are more resistant bricks. Sometimes also they covered with enamel for
decorative effects. The dimensions of the bricks were changing over time and
depending on the area where used.

Requirements for laying bricks:

• Place them perfectly wet.

• Place them tightening in order to ensure proper adhesion.

• Horizontal and aligned rows.

• The vertical joints will no continuity alternated with thickness of 1.5 cm.

• The walls crossing or spliced must be perfectly locked.

• The "lead" and "level" of the courses will be monitored.

• The use of nails, wire or irons to the lock walls or protrusions are allowed.
Types of bricks to construction
Brick is a ceramic piece used in construction too, manufactured from baked
clay. Each of the types of bricks see have special characteristics which make
them suitable for certain cases.

Adobe:

It is made of raw clay, and has been used since


ancient times typically used in construction,
poor, rustic or bio mainly for its thermal
insulation capacity.

Baked brick earth:

It is a burnt brick earth or clay, made craft.


Dimensions vary according to country and
standards. No perforations and their faces look
rustic. It is also known as brick tiles or manual
type M.

Solid brick:

His way of construction, extruded or pressed,


gives it better finished and its dimensions are
accurate.

Solid brick with bowl:


Also known as brick recess, which is useful to house
mortar and especially for sores or partitions with thin joints or without joints.

Perforated brick:

It is a brick having perforations in the table more


than 10% of its surface, should be less is
considered a solid brick. Also it is known as light
brick. Increases resistance to penetrate the
septum piercings mortar.

Firebrick:

It is used in places where fire and high


temperatures usually occur. It generally consists
of the same materials as common brick but in
different proportions. Useful for boilers and
chimneys.

Facing brick:

Brick semi-vitreous, especially for facades and


areas where the septum is exposed. Generally
enamel finish.

Hollow brick:
With piercing edge or the head, thereby
reducing the volume of material used and with
this weight. They are used in partitions that do
not require a heavy load to bear
