Road Map to the Senses

Create a crash course video for the senses that will help you and others understand our
sensory systems and how they work.

Your video must include the following:


- Structures of organs associated with Sensation
- Explanations of how the sensory information is processed and perceived
- Examples of how the sense can be fooled if it can be (How can we alter our
perception of reality using this sense)
- Main theories related to the sensation
- Any common disorders/issues that occur when there is damage to various structures
o What are their treatments
o How do they change our perception of the world?
- One uncommon or rare disorder
o What is the common treatment if there is one
o How does it change our ability to perceive the world?
- What other Sense is your sense most closely connected when building your
perception of reality

Senses: vision (sight), audition (hearing), gustation (taste), olfaction (smell), somesthesis
(touch)

Presentation guidelines:
Everyone must play a part in the video
Length 8-10 minutes
Class time will be given to work on this project

Grading will be based from a combination of Mr. Bolton’s grade, a group self assessment, a
peer assessment, and note sheet to be collected after all presentations are complete.

Notes sheets will be completed by each student about other groups presentations
