Halishahar Tank Transmission Pipeline: The design head is 34m.

Considering safety and water


hammering effect, we should double the design head i.e. maximum surge pressure in the pipeline is
(34mx2) =68m=666,682N/m2.

At the blind end of the header pipe, total pressure will be = πX(0.6)2X68=754,000N.

Compressive Load will occur at the supporting H-Beam fixed at 60 0 angle = 754,000N/cos300=870,645N.

Now let us consider 1000mm length UB203x133x30 as inclined support against backpressure created by
water hammer inside the header pipe. This support shall make 60 0 with the vertical blind flange. Both
ends of the support shall be restrained according to the drawings.
