Ok class, these is what we are going to

do. Somebody will begin the reading,
and if I say stop she/he will stop and I
will ask some questions. After he/she
answer my questions I will ask
somebody to continue to read.
(understand class)

Let’s start (I will call the students who

are not listening) Rizal’s Letter to his countrymen

To the Filipinos:
The step which I have made or will
miss is without doubt, I need not say that I
have given it much thought. I know that
almost all are opposed to it. But I also
know that no one knows what is
happening in my heart.
Stop, so for who did the author write
letter? For the Filipinos or his countrymen

Very good, you may take your sit

continue reading (any of the pupils) I cannot live seeing my brothers
and their numerous families persecuted
like criminals. I prefer to face death and
give my life willingly free so many innocent
persons from unjust persecutions know
that for the moment, the future of my
country gravitates in part around me; that
once I am dead, may will triumph; and that
consequently above all, I have duties of
families who suffer and to my aged
parents whose sighs tugs at my heart.

Stop who is the speaker of the letter? Dr. Jose Rizal

What he prefers to do to free the
innocent people from unjust
persecutions? Fare death or give his life

Very good, you may take your sit,

continue.

Call somebody to read. I know that with my death, I can

make them happy and restore them to
their country and the peace of their homes.
I know nobody else but my parents; but my
country has many more sons who can
substitute me with advantage.
Thank you, continue (call somebody to
read) Besides, I would like to make those
who deny patriotism see that we know how
to die for duty and for convictions. What
matters death if one dies for the thing he
loves, for country, and for those he
adores?

In know that I would be the only

rally point of politics in the Philippines and
if I were convinced that my countrymen
would utilize my services.
Oh, you may take your sit. Thank you.

Another, continue (call somebody) I would have probably hesitated to

take this step. But there are still others
who can take my place and with
advantage. Moreover, there are those who
find me extra burden and will not utilize my
services and force me into inaction.
What is the purpose of Dr. Jose Rizal
in writing his letter? To encourage Filipino to become Patriotic.

Thank you, please continue. I have always loved my poor

country and I am sure that I’ll love her to
the last moment, although men are unjust
to me. My future, my life, my joys, all I
have sacrificed for her. Whatever
happens, I shall die blessing her and
desiring for her the dawn of her
redemption.

So class did you understand the letter? Yes ma’am

Ok, so class are you willing to die for
sake of your country? Yes ma’am

Wow very good…

Why do you want to die for your (raise their hand)

countrymen?

Very good.
So bring out 1 whole sheet of paper.
And then answer this in paragraph
form.

Question
1. If you were given a chance to write
a letter to your countrymen, what
would you say?

IV. Assignment/Evaluation
Please read in advance our next
topic because we will have a
graded recitation for tomorrow.
