INTRODUCTION

Gatwick Airport, also known as London Gatwick, is a major international airport near Crawley
in West Sussex, southeast England, 29.5 miles south of Central London. It is the second-busiest
airport by total passenger traffic in the United Kingdom, after Heathrow Airport. Gatwick is the
eighth-busiest airport in Europe. Gatwick is the busiest single runway airport in the world, the
UK’s second busiest airport and Europe’s sixth busiest airport in terms of international traffic.

Brief Discussion:

Gatwick the busiest single runway airport in the world with 25000 staff, 120000 bags a day 33
million passengers a year. Operating an international airport is an unpredictable business now
you’ve got to be on your guard and prepared all times but now gat wings under new ownership
and undergoing a 1 billion pound facelift the aim to create the best airport in the world. Each
airport take huge capital of investment Gatwick airport spends billions of pounds for
transformation. New manager Daniel gives and provides innovative ideas to motivate their
engineers and work done more efficiently with low error. We need to be driving this airport to 45
million passengers of the single room where my toes check with new management comes to the
talk we’ve got to change our business now we want to remove those failures there is no
accountability there is no leadership there’s no direction. In 2018, 46.1 million passengers passed
through the airport, a 1.1% increase compared with 2017. Gatwick Airport has 25000 total staff.
In this Management staff, Engineers, and Labor Etc. Management staff for administration work,
business intelligence etc. Engineers for technical problems such as baggage belt, electrical
problems. Labors are for baggage loader and cleaning etc.

Inside Gatwick
Gatwick processes on average 123000 passenger bags every day and things don’t go always to
the plan. Due to baggage belt problem Passengers lost their bags so many times. The south
terminal 30 year old baggage belt system is well past its sell-by gate so 200 million pound is
being spent on completely new one across the entire airport but that wouldn’t be completed until
2015. The current system is prone to breakouts on a weekly basis so it’s left baggage belt
engineers to put things right. These are some unsung heroes of the airport working in difficult
conditions. A Gil Stevie summer is a Team leader for five engineers in a south terminal.
Engineer’s do 24/7 maintenance work to keep the system the running in oppressive environment.
A temperature where engineer team works at 30 centigrade it is hot for England. One main
complaint from passengers the passenger’s bags delayed or cost and it is also one of the busiest
checking belts. After passing through stringent security checks and an X-ray the bag is flipped
down to the loading bay where it’s manually scanned by a humbling agent before being placed
onto a baggage car and driven out the airstrip, where it’s finally loaded onto the plane.
Gatwick Issues

Travelers' hate losing their baggage and settle on educated travel decisions put together at any
rate to some extent with respect to the fact that they are so prone to be brought together with
their bags on entry. Long term development in traveler numbers, tight turnaround times, the need
to control costs and ever-more tightly security directions make things dealing with to a greater
extent a need than at any other time and to a greater extent a test to take care of business.
Mistakenly taken care of stuff costs the air transport industry near US$3billion every year, so a
good luggage management solution isn't just basic to enhancing client administration and
improving the general client experience yet in addition to controlling expenses.

Solution
Gatwick is a client arranged business and having won best UK air terminal honors throughout
the previous five years, is devoted to addressing the necessities of the 35 million travelers every
year it handles. London Gatwick is one of more than 70 airplane terminals around the globe
which has incorporated SITA's Bag Manager Software into their frameworks to guarantee packs
are stacked onto the correct flying machine with the correct traveler at the perfect time.
Following four effective years, the Gatwick carrier network has stretched out its concurrence
with SITA to additionally improve things the executives. Other innovation use for things is PCs,
cameras and standardized identification scanners. Standardized tag scanners read the labels of
things. What's more, the answer for Gatwick additionally incorporates Bag Manager with SITA's
Bag Message and World Tracer frameworks to get advance data about packs (by means of
Baggage Information Message), and to give data about postponed and misused bags.

Advantages

• Lower costs by diminishing the quantities of mishandled bags and by decreasing on-stand
time for air ship that need packs offloaded.
• Improved client service, by limiting things taking care of blunders and misled stuff.
• Improved staff viability, by giving real time data when it's required.
• Improved things control, by following and recording the area of each bag inside an air
terminal and over numerous airplane terminals.
• Tighter security, by guaranteeing that travelers and their stuff travel together.
