Unit On Freckle Juice

“Freckles” about
this Unit
Dear Guardians,
For the next two weeks your students will be
reading the novel Freckle Juice by Judy Blume. This
unit will help the students examine character traits,
point of view, connections with themselves,
connections with the text, and comprehension
about the text. The novel Freckle Juice by Judy
Blume was chosen for this unit because it has a very
strong message that most children need to hear “Be
Yourself.” At the end of this unit the students will be
given a final test on the novel Freckle Juice in order
to see what they have comprehended. Each day I
will send home a parent-child involvement activity
for you to do with your son or daughter related to
either an exercise to do about “Being Yourself” or
what we learn that day.

December 4th – Students will do an Author’s study on
Judy Blume.
December 5th- Students will begin reading and
analyzing Chapter 1 of the novel.
December 6th- Students will begin reading and making
connections with the text in Chapter 2 of the novel.
December 7th- Students will begin reading and
discussing Chapter 3 of the novel.
December 10th - Students will begin reading and
critically think about Chapter 4 of the novel.
December 11th- Students will begin reading and critical
thinking about Chapter 5 of the novel.
December 12th- Student will analyze the novel Freckle
Juice by comparing and contrast two characters.
December 13th- Students will determine and identify
story elements from the novel Freckle Juice.
December 14th- Student will be the author and write
an extra chapter to the novel Freckle Juice
December 17th-Student will recreate the drink “Freckle
 “Freckles” about “Freckle” about
