PROFESSIONAL DISPOSITION STATEMENT

I believe every student can learn in their own unique way. I will respect the needs of my
students and bring innovative techniques to show empathy and understanding for diverse
needs in academics and other aspects of classroom management. This statement
encompasses my thoughts as a future educator and the hopes for my classroom. I have a strong
belief that every student can learn, but also that every student cannot learn the same. Techniques
need to be tried and changed for students depending on their needs within the classroom.
After reviewing my self-assessment. I believe it agrees with and supports my professional
dispositions statement. I strongly believe a variety of instructional strategies will optimize
student learning. I also strongly respect all culture and cultural norms within the classroom.
These cultural norms can be in a students family life and religious. Understanding where a
student comes from in relation to holidays can help them feel more comfortable during these
seasons within the classroom. By not forcing one holiday on students and making sure that if
information is shared, information about multiple holidays is shared so all students feel included.
In my specific program of study, I think my professional disposition for patience has
grown. There are students in my classroom who I have certain expectations for but there are
times I have to remind myself that I need patience to allow students to meet these expectations.
Students are not always feeling 100% and I need to be certain to tune into these changes in their
behaviors during daily activities to try and understand why they may not be performing to their
normal accomplishments each day. To make changes to my professional dispositions and
improvements, I will use each day to start an observation of my students and brief interactions.
This will give me a better idea as to where they are that morning and who may need a little
guidance.
