When I finally enter the classroom and put my years of experience as a paraprofessional
and student teacher to use, establishing a framework for my own professional aims and
aspirations as an educator should be considerably less of a challenge. The first distinctive quality
that, in my opinion, should be highlighted in the classroom is the willingness to take advice or
recommendations from colleagues and other educators. It's easy to become stuck in a rut when it
comes to your chosen style of learning and your existing body of information, but I know that
there's always more out there for me to learn and that I need to be willing to listen to the
perspectives of those around me, most importantly my cooperating teacher. As a second point, I
believe it is essential for educators to always demonstrate kindness, gentleness, and a sense of
empathy. The key to promoting students' development and learning under the leadership of the
educator is recognizing and acknowledging them as unique individuals. Finally, I think it's
important for educators to provide a good example of trustworthiness and enthusiasm. Every
day, educators should put forth as much time and energy as possible into making their
classrooms comfortable learning environments and ensuring that learners have easy access to all
necessary resources. The best strategy to make learners feel adored and respected is to maintain a
self-evaluation. My personal appraisal of these values, in which I assigned a rating of the highest
degree, gives validity to the statements I've made. I have made great strides in these areas since
starting my program at GCU and finishing my experience through the beginning of a training
period similar to an internship in the classroom. I’m starting to feel welcomed into the class. I
put forth a lot of effort to create a welcoming and stimulating classroom environment for my first
graders. I always greet my learners with a handshake initiated by them, as well as a greeting as
they gather to leave and when they enter the building. By consistently pushing students to answer
questions, I can help them get over their hesitation and eventually excel in class. My cooperating
educator and I have frequent conversations and collaborate throughout our daily 1st grade team
development meetings and when preparing units for the first grade. I make a huge effort to get to
know each student and what they like doing so that I may demonstrate my concern for them. To
grow into the most effective educator that I can be, I am constantly refining my understanding of
and adherence to the dispositions, as well as the aforementioned model code of ethics. For every
instruction, my cooperating teacher and I debrief on how we both might have done a better job
for our learners. To properly educate for and aid each individual in achieving rapid development,
I honor my commitments. x
