ATHLETISM

1. Introduction

I have chosen this topic because running became my passion two years ago, when I took it up as
a hobby. Although I used to like PE at school, I had never considered sports seriously before.
However, one day a friend of mine encouraged me to join a club with her, which I don’t regret at
all. Were you keen on sports when you were my age?

2. Advantages

Running has a lot of advantages. For example, you physical and psychological well-being is
improved, which helps you to have a better sleep. What’s more, if you train, your arteries and
lungs get cleaned, so it is very advisable for people who give up smoking. Not only does running
tone the muscles, but also it strengthens the bones and makes you more flexible. Would you
consider running if you wanted to clear your mind and relax after a hard day of work?

3. ADVICES

If I had to give some tips to someone who wants to take up athletics, I would say that they
shouldn’t run every day. It is important to rest and reconstruct the muscular fibers. They had better
start with a 30 minutes training session, and then increase it. Also, the clothing is very important.
Athletes ought to wear suitable clothes and trainers, so they don’t get hurt.
