CHAPTER VIII: SPATIAL ANALYSIS AND PROGRAMMING

In this chapter, the researcher defines and analyses the spaces in order to come up
with an effective solution for the planning of the project. The space analysis and
programming serves as a very important entity for determining the proper zoning and
design of the facilities in the library. The definition and analysis of the researcher are
divided into six (6) sections. These are identification and list of spatial requirements,
user function and analysis, Room Data Sheet, Summary of Areas, matrix diagram, and
bubble diagram.

8.1 Identification and List of Spatial Requirements

This section describes each area in general or some spaces of the library for
each cluster of areas, its intended use and function, and benefit of the users.
After further analysis with the proposed programs and activities of the BGC
Library, the researcher has able to formulate the facilities needed by the users
in the library. Based on the programs and activities discussed in Chapter 5, the
researcher has concluded the spatial requirements that this library would need.
The spaces for the proposed BGC Library are classified into the following
zoning:

1. Reading Area

2. Public and Commercial Spaces

3. Exhibition and Training Facilities

4. Administrative Division

5. Technical Department

Requirements

a. The parking slot, parking area and loading/unloading space

requirements listed hereafter are generally the minimum off-street cum
on-site requirements for specific uses/occupancies for
buildings/structures, i.e., all to be located outside of the road right-of-
way (RROW).

b. The size of an average automobile (car) parking slot must be

computed at 2.50 meters by 5.00 meters for perpendicular or diagonal
parking and at 2.15 meters by 6.00 meters for parallel parking. A
standard truck or bus parking/loading slot must be computed at a
minimum of 3.60 meters by 12.00 meters. An articulated truck slot

Guidelines (Section 3 – Parking and Vehicular Access)

3.1 Parking

3.1.1 The parking strategy that has been devised for Bonifacio
Global City is the result of an in-depth study to examine travel
demand patterns within the Global City. The study looked at the
trips that would be generated by residents and the workforce
living in the Global City for reasons of work, entertainment,
visiting friends, etc.

3.1.8 The dimensions for standard parking soace, loading/

unloading bays and lay-bys are as follows:

Length Width Minimum

(meters) (meters) Headroom
Private cars, taxis 5 2.5 2.4
Coaches, buses 12 3.6 3.8
Lorries, container vehicles 12 3.6 4.5

Lay-bys are drop off points for private vehicles and taxis.

The minimum headroom relates to the clearance between the

floor and the lower most projection from the ceiling including
any lighting units, ventilation duct, conduits, or similar.
