Capstone Proposal
How to be an ideal coach to impact an athlete’s skill level and ability to perform?

For my capstone I will be doing my project on being an ideal wrestling coach. I have
chosen this topic because I have been wrestling since the age of six years old and I
have been fortunate to compete internationally and nationally with high level
coaches by my side. This topic is something I want to look further into because this
is what I will most likely be doing this after high school. I enjoy coaching and
impacting the younger athletes in our club because I have been fortunate to be
coached by high level wrestlers and I feel like its only right to do the same. Both of
my coaches have been competing at the Olympic level for multiple years so I have
learned a lot over the years. I will be in contact with my coach Nasir Lal, The coach
of Canada Dave McKay and I will also be in contact with Danielle Igali. Coach Igali
is our first and only Gold medallist for wrestling in Canada. I will be making videos
of me coaching the younger kids and trying different styles of coaching to prove
what is the best method. I will be making a poster board and a video to go along with
my presentation. I will Also be obtaining a coaching certificate and explaining the
process of my journey and what I’ve learned so far. I will also be explaining to
process of being a certified coach and what I have gained in the experience.

- I will start my project may 5 by inviting my coach over and conducting a

interview
- By may 12 I will be going to Simon Fraser university to talk to the coach of
Canada Dave McKay
- May 15- 30 I will be coaching and trying my different coaching methods to
the younger kids and try to find out which is the best
- By may 25 I will be calling Coach Igali to conduct a interview
