CHƯƠNG TRÌNH NÓI TIẾNG ANH CƠ SỞ 6

I. Mục tiêu học phần

Học phần này dành cho sinh viên đã có chứng chỉ TOEIC 2 kỹ năng (Đọc và Nghe), nhằm phát triển các
kỹ năng Nói và Viết ở trình độ trung cấp. Sau khi kết thúc học phần, sinh viên đạt được những mục tiêu
cụ thể sau:

Về kỹ năng nói, sinh viên có khả năng:

- Phát triển vốn từ vựng về các chủ đề quảng cáo, tiền tệ, văn hóa và nhân sự bằng tiếng Anh ở
trình độ trung cấp.
- Phát biểu ý kiến của mình về các vấn đề liên quan đến quảng cáo, tiền tệ, văn hóa và nhân sự ở
trình độ trung cấp.
- Trình bày ý kiến của mình đồng ý hay không đồng ý về một vấn đề trong vòng 2-3 phút.

II. Định dạng đề thi nói

Task Type Timing
Part 1 Discussion 5-7 minutes
With your partner, discuss about the most common methods
of advertising, the advantages and disadvantages of celebrity
endorsement, your favorite advertisment, the economic
situation in our country, business culture, the most common
cultural problems that foreign companies encounter in your
country, how to succeed in a job interview, the qualities that
employers expect the job seekers to have.
(You have 10 minutes to prepare for your discussion)

Part 2 Independent long turn 2-3 minutes

- You are given a statement. You have 3 minutes to indicate whether


you agree or disagree with the statement or to express your opinion
of the statement. You should support your view with specific
examples and explanation.

III. Tiêu chí đánh giá năng lực nói.

Mục tiêu của bài kiểm tra nói nhằm kiểm tra năng lực giao tiếp của sinh viên về các vấn đề quảng cáo,
tiền tệ, văn hóa và nhân sự và năng lực trình bày quan điểm và bảo vệ ý kiến của mình về một vấn đề.
Năng lực nói sẽ được đánh giá trên các tiêu chí sau:

- Phát âm
- Nói trôi chảy và mạch lạc
- Vốn từ vựng
- Cấu trúc ngữ pháp

1. What is the most shocking advertisement you have seen? Describe it

4. What are the different types of advertising? (Eg. TV)

5. Do you buy products because of advertising? Do you find advertising persuasive?

7. Why do you buy one product over another?

8. Should advertisers be allowed to advertise to children?

9. Should alcohol or tobacco companies be allowed to advertise? Why or why not?

10. What do you think of celebrity endorsements? Which celebrities advertise which products? Do
favorite or annoying celebrities make you want or not want to buy a product?

11. What is the best way to advertise to children? Adults? Seniors? etc..

12. What are some effective adverts you have seen lately (on TV, newspaper, etc)? What are some
ineffective adverts you have seen lately?

13. Do you think advertising is too expensive? What are the different methods of advertising?

14. Do you think the government has the right to ban advertising for junk food and soda during children's
TV programs. What do you think about this? Why do you think they made this decision?

15. What differences can you notice between commercials from 10 or 15 years ago and commercials
today?

1. Some people say that advertising encourages us to buy things that we really do not need. Others say
that advertisements tell us about new products that may improve our lives. Which viewpoint do you agree
with?

2. To what extent do you agree or disagree with the following statement: Some of the methods used in
advertising are unethical and unacceptable in today’s society.

3. Advertising is all around us, it is an unavoidable part of everyone’s life. Some people say that
advertising is a positive part of our lives while others say it is a negative one. Discuss both views and
include your own opinion

4. Some people say that advertising encourages us to buy things we really do not need. Others say that

1. Some people believe that money is the most important factor for achieving happiness. However, others
believe that happiness has nothing to do with money. Do you agree or disagree?

2. The most important thing about a job is how much money you earn in that job. Do you agree or
disagree?

3. Some people believe that money is everything in today's life , however some say it is not . Discuss both
and give your opinion

4. Many people say that we now live in 'consumer societies' where money and possessions are given too
much importance. Others believe that consumer culture has played a vital role in improving our lives.

Part I: DISCUSSION

1. What are some things that define a culture? For example, music, language, ... Why do you think culture
is important?

2. What do you think is interesting about your culture? Who in your culture do you admire most? What
your culture are you most proud about?

3. When people from other countries think about your culture, what do they usually think of?

4. What has surprised you when you've met people from other countries?

5. Have you ever felt confused by the actions of someone from another culture? If so, tell me about it.

6. If you could change one thing about your culture, what would it be?

7. Would you ever consider marrying or dating someone from another culture? Why/ why not?

8. Would you ever consider living permanently in a country other than your home country? Why or why
not?

9. What does it mean to be polite in your culture? What is considered rude in your culture? Is there
anything in this culture that is considered rude that may not be considered rude in your culture?

10. If a group of people just came to your country from overseas, what advice would you give them?

11. Do you think "when in Rome, do as the Romans do" is always good advice? Why or why not? Have
you ever been in a situation where you felt you had to "do as the Romans do"?

12. What culture besides your own do you admire and why?

13. What is culture shock? Have you ever experienced culture shock?

14. In your culture is it polite to be straightforward and direct when you talk to someone? To whom is it
OK and to whom is it not OK?

15. What are the five most important values of your culture? (For example, Family)

16. What customs do you think should no longer be practice? What customs (from elsewhere) do you
think should be included in our culture?
17. Define reverse culture shock. Have you ever experienced reverse culture shock?
18. Do you think that your culture is becoming lost? Do you feel the need to preserve your culture?

1. Differences between countries become less evident each year. Nowadays, all over the world people
share the same advertising, brands, eating habits and TV channels. Do the advantages outweigh the
disadvantages of these fashions?

2. Some people believe that visitors to other countries should follow local customs and behavior. Others
disagree and think that the host country should welcome culture differences. Discuss both these views and
give your own opinion

3. Due to effects of globalisation, the cultures of some countries are influenced by others. Some people
think this is a natural process. Others think this is a threat to cultural identity. What is your opinion about
this?
4. As mass communication and transport continue to grow, societies are becoming more and more alike
leading to a phenomenon known as globalization. Some people fear that globalization will inevitably lead
to the total loss of cultural identity. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?

5. Some people think that it is good for a country’s culture to broadcast foreign films and TV shows.
Others, however, think it is best to produce local films and shows. Discuss both views and give your own
opinion

6. Television has had a significant influence on the culture of many societies. To what extent would you
say that television has positively or negatively affected the cultural development of your society?

13. When companies are recruiting, what sort of qualities in employees do they look for?

15. If you had to change your job, what method would you use to find a new one?

1. “Job security and salary should be based on employee performance, not on years of service. Rewarding
employees primarily for years of service discourages people from maintaining consistently high levels of
productivity.” Discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the opinion stated above.

2. Companies should not try to improve employees’ performance by giving incentives, for example,
awards or gifts. These incentives encourage negative kinds of behavior instead of encouraging a genuine
interest in doing the work well.” Discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the opinion stated
above.

3. The best way of motivating workers or encouraging employees to improve their performance is to pay
them according to the amount of sales or products they produced. Do you agree or disagree?

4. Many people think that to become a successful specialist it's better to choose a career early in life and
never change it later. To what extent do you agree with this view?

5. Big salary is much more important than job satisfaction. Do you agree or disagree?

6. Many people say that the only way to guarantee getting a good job is to complete a course of university
education. Others claim that it is better to start work after school and gain experience in the world of
work. How far do you agree or disagree with the above views?

7. The education system of the country is such that many students are forced to study the subjects at
school, even though their interest lies somewhere else. Many people believe that such students must be
allowed to get a job early while others believe that they must be convinced to work hard at school.
