1. OBJECTIVE
This work method covers earth works for Zubair Permanent Power Plant Generation Plant
(ZPPGP), in Zubair Oil Field Development Project, Basrah, Iraq

4. STATUS OF WORK
The work shall start based on a completion of site leveling and backfilling.
5. RESOURCES
5.1. PERSONNEL

5.2. EQUIPMENT
• Surveying Instruments.
• Excavator.
• Hand compactor.
• Water tanker.

6. MATERIALS
All material for chain-link fencing and gates shall conform to the requirements of the project
drawings and specifications.
7. PROGRAM OF WORK
7.1. MOBILIZIATION
Mobilization will be carried out within 2 days from the date of receiving the acceptance to
commencement the works from the company.
7.2. EXCAVATION
Excavations shall be done by hand excavation or backhoe, excavations shall be carried out
under supervision.
Excavation limits shall be done according to project drawings. Excavated trenches shall be
barricaded to prevent any person/any excavator and other construction vehicles on site
from falling into the trench or the excavation.
Once the earthwork is completed, inspected and approved the preparation of the fence will
commence.
The Contractor shall locate the position of the work by establishing and marking the fence
line.
7.4.2 BRACING
All corner, end, pull, and gate posts shall be braced as shown on the drawings. Pull
posts shall be used at sharp breaks in vertical grade or as directed by the
Consultant.
7.4.3.1 After rolling out the chain link and weaving the rolls together, ‘hook-up’
one end. Make sure the nuts are on the inside of the fence so they
cannot be removed from outside the enclosure.
7.4.3.2 Pulling the chain link tight by hand to the other end.
7.4.3.3 Stretch the fence using stretch tools. Do not over tighten.
7.4.3.4 Hand stretch the small section of chain link left between the come-a-
long and terminal post by hand. Slide the tension bar into the mesh and
make the last hook-up. Once all bolts are in place, remove the
stretching tools.
7.5.1. High-tensile cable placements on the end and corner post have been set.
7.5.2. Stretching and fastening the cable by using tension tools.
The barbed wire shall install on the support arm which is be at a 45-degree angle, and shall
be fitted with clips, slots or other device for attaching three lines of barbed wire to the arm.
The barbed wire arm shall be sufficient strength to withstand a weight of the barbed wire
without causing any permanent deflection of the arm. Each strand of barbed wire shall be
pulled taut to remove all sag before the strand is attached to the extension arm.
The gates shall be erected and hung on gate fittings as shown in the drawings. Gates shall
be erected to swing in the direction indicated and shall be provided with gate stops, as
specified or as shown on the drawings.
7.7.1 Gate posts to be installed in the same manner as mentioned above, used for corner
and straining posts.
7.7.2 Gates to be attached to gate posts as per company specifications.
7.8. DEMOBILIZIATION
As soon as the works are completed, the whole machineries and equipment's which are
not necessary for the successor activity will be demobilized from work site.
8. QUALITY CONTROL
Tests and inspections will be made in accordance to the documents & specification according to
project specifications item 3.
9. HSE
9.1 Work to be carried out in a safe manner and accordance with the HSE program and Safety
Policy. Site operatives shall be well inducted for the safe operation of the machineries,
equipment and tools to be used.
9.2 Personnel protective equipment will be used by all staff and labours. The minimum
personnel protective equipment is as follows:
• Safety Helmet.
• Safety footwear.
• Eye protection.
• Any other equipment required by the site operator or deemed necessary by the
task.
9.3 All regulation implemented by authority at site will be considered.
9.4 Proper barricades and traffic signs shall be placed around the work site location wherever
required.
