Interests: Personal Growth

Who am I now?

1. Describe a hobby or interest, either in school or outside of school, that you have spent time
developing this year.
A hobby I have spent time one outside of school is music, I play the trumpet. I am in a mariachi
class that I go to every Wednesday afternoon.

2. What do you like about this particular hobby or interest?

I like that I am able to learn new things and be able to play music.

3. What kinds of skills have you developed or practiced via this hobby/interest?
I have developed skills of memorizing music pieces, and being able to learn something faster
than before.

4. How has this hobby or interest challenged you to grow?

This has challenged me to grow because i am challenged to learn new hard pieces, and I have to
put in the time and effort to be better.

5. If someone else told you they were interested in pursuing the same hobby or interest, what
advice would you give them?
I would give them the advice that they should dedicate time to playing music, it takes time to
learn things, but you just have to be patient.

6. What connections can you make between this hobby/interest and the life you want to have for
yourself in the future? In other words, do you see this hobby or interest continuing? Is it related
to any career interests? Ten years from now, do you think you’ll still be engaged in this hobby or
interest? Explain.
I am thinking of playing for a couple years more, but I do not think that in 10 years I will still be
playing trumpet because I will be more busy with more things. It is not related to nay of my futur
career interests, but I just like this hobby.
