Interests: Personal Growth

Who am I now?

1. Describe a hobby or interest, either in school or outside of school, that you have spent time
developing this year. (Some examples: gaming, art, music, dance, writing, photography,
construction, building engines, hunting, having your own YouTube channel, etc.)

I have spent alot of time playing volleyball and I am continuing to expand my athletic ability for
this sport.

2. What do you like about this particular hobby or interest?

This sport really is my safe place. My grandpa, who passed away when I was young, always
wanted to see one of his 5 grandkids play a sport in college and this is me trying to pursue his
dream as well as mine.

3. What kinds of skills have you developed or practiced via this hobby/interest?
This sport has shown me good sportsmanship, teamwork, and collaboration. This sport has also
made me a much kinder and outspoken person.

4. How has this hobby or interest challenged you to grow?

Volleyball continues to get harder as the years go by and it challenges me by making me work
until my team and I are able to make it look easy.

5. If someone else told you they were interested in pursuing the same hobby or interest, what
advice would you give them?
I would let them know that patience is key in playing volleyball and to not get so down if they
make a mistake. The sport is based off of pure mistakes and everyone makes them. I suggest
shrugging it off and making it up by helping get the next point.

6. What connections can you make between this hobby/interest and the life you want to have for
yourself in the future? In other words, do you see this hobby or interest continuing? Is it related

to any career interests? Ten years CHS Portfolio from now, do you think
you’ll still be engaged in this hobby or interest? Explain.

This hobby is what my future is. I really see my future as me playing volleyball past high school
as a coach and hopefully with some sort of way to play in college. I think I will still be engaged
in this sport many years from now because I want to teach others the love of Volleyball.
