Personal Growth: Interests

Who am I now?

1. Describe a hobby or interest, either in school or outside of school, that you have spent time
developing this year. (Some examples: gaming, art, music, dance, writing, photography,
construction, building engines, hunting, having your own YouTube channel, etc.)
A hobby and interest that I have spent time developing in school and out of school would be
tennis. I played last year and I liked it a lot and since then I have been developing my skills
to be better for this year.
2. What do you like about this particular hobby or interest?
What I like about this particular hobby is that it’s a fun relaxing sport that you can play
with friends, or family at any age, and whenever you have time to. It doesn’t require a lot
and its good when trying to spend time with family or friends.
3. What kinds of skills have you developed or practiced via this hobby/interest?
I have developed quicker motion and a lot of hand-eye coordination which is really
necessary when serving and trying to get the ball to a certain area or person during a
match or practice game.
4. How has this hobby or interest challenged you to grow?
This hobby has challenged me to grow in many different ways. It has made me interact
more with people, and go out get out of my comfort zone.
5. If someone else told you they were interested in pursuing the same hobby or interest, what
advice would you give them?
I would tell them to go for it, it’s going to be a great experience the are going to meet new
people and they are not going to regret it.
6. What connections can you make between this hobby/interest and the life you want to have for
yourself in the future? In other words, do you see this hobby or interest continuing? Is it related
to any career interests? Ten years from now, do you think you’ll still be engaged in this hobby or
interest? Explain.
In the future, I want to be a pediatrician, which is a doctor for little kids. This involves a lot
of hand-eye coordination moving quickly, and in tennis, we have a lot of that because
obviously if you want to get the ball you have to move fast, just like if you want to get to a
patient quickly.
