    NARRATION OF EXPERIENCES

    KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS LEARNED

    We had our OJT in the company of MERALCO. We were assigned in the Distribution
    Connection Design and there we learned so many things that you cannot learn in school. They
    teach us the skills needed to do the things what they are doing. We learned and practiced AutoCad
    to improve and enhance our skills in making design and we surveyed sites to visualized the designs.
    We analyze some designs to be familiarized with and learned standard constructive units that
    needed in constructing a design. During my 250-hour OJT in the MERALCO, I experience
    difficulties especially to the works that I’m not familiar with. I also experience mistakes and
    pressure doing the task given to me. But thanks to our understanding trainers, instead of getting
    mad when we do mistake, they just simply smile at us and teach us again what the right thing to
    do. I realized that even the simplest lesson will be such helpful to us. I realized that all the things
    that we learn in school will be a great help for us to do well in our career. After the training, I
    realized that OJT is not just a requirement but a key for us to know and experience a wider view
    of the things that will be faced once we graduated and became an engineer.

    PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED

    The problems we encountered are the difficulties in adapting new environemnt. It took
    some time for me to adjust at the workplace because it was my first time working outside Nueva
    Ecija. I don’t know what to do and what to say. It is also hard to talk with my trainer and co-
    trainees. There are tasks that are really unfamiliar and new to us that is difficult to do but we are
    determined to learn so we ask our trainers what we need to do and we succeed to learn all of that.

    RECOMMENDATION

    We could really recommend MERALCO because they give opportunity to students to


    developed and enhance their skills through hands-on experiences on real working environment.
    Having an OJT in MERALCO is a nice choice because it will help you to have a glimpse of the
    real world and improve ourselves to be a better future engineer.
