and from work in one European city in 1960, 1980 and 2000.
Write a report for a university lecturer describing the information below.
» You should write at least 150 words.

The graph illustrates the different percentage in the utilization of four means of transport
including bus, car, bike and foot in one European city in 1960, 1980 and 2000.

Overall, the number of people used car increased considerably between 1960 and 2000.
Meanwhile, people in that Europe city had a tendency to use less bus, car and foot during the
period.

Initially, in 1960, the majority of people used to travel on foot, by bike or by bus with
roughly 35% , 27% and 20% respectively, whilst that of car was just over 6%. In the next 20
years, there was a significant rise in the use of bus and car to approximately 27% and nearly
25%. It can be clearly seen that the number of cars used in 1980 grew well over three times
of that in 1960. At the same time, bike riding and waking fell markedly between 5% and
18%. In 2000, car driving accounted for the highest percentage with 37%, compared to 18%
of bus users, 10% of walkers and the least popularity of people riding bikes with 7%.

(In conclusion, during the period of 40 years from 1960 to 2000, the European city witnessed
a rapid process of car and bus replacing the people who walked and bike riders.)
