Task Description
You and your friends are on a camping trip and are having the
best time ever. It is the middle of the day and you are really
feeling like a sweet treat however; you do not know how to make
a fire. There are some strawberries that you want to dip in melted
chocolate, marshmallows that you want to eat melted and you
really want a drink of water, but you only have ice. You remember
that in school you have been learning about how heat can be
used to change the state of an object from a solid to a liquid.
After thinking for a while, you remember a video you saw in class
about making and using a solar oven to heat up food, without
using fire. You had pizza for dinner last night and still have the
box so decide that you will make a solar oven to melt the
chocolate, marshmallow and ice.

In your groups you are required to use the materials provided to

make a solar oven to melt chocolate, marshmallows and an ice
cube.
Rules:
1. You must use a pizza box as your solar oven
2. You can choose any other selection of materials
3. You have 20 mins to design and build you solar oven
4. Keep in mind what you have learned in class about using
heat to change the state of an object from a solid to a
liquid
5. This is a team activity so make sure that you are working
as a team
6. HAVE FUN!!
