LABORATORY WORKSHOP # 1 Page 1 of 2

ÁREA: SCIENCE GRADE: 2 A-B-C-D

TOPIC: FUSION: CHANGE FROM A SOLID TO A LIQUID
TEACHERS: HANS QUEVEDO-LUZ ADRIANA ORTIZ (LABORATORIO)
DATE: FROM: AUGUST 26th – 2010 TO: NOVEMBER 26th - 2010

GRADE MOTTO: “Building up my independence by contributing to the environment and atmosphere at school and at home”.

INTRODUCCIÓN: Through this activity we would be able to observe and start describing one of the changes in the state of matter
important in natura (FUSION), additionally we will put into practice our scientific abilities using our senses to determine the changes in
an ice cube. We will pay close attention to our observations, using the sense of touch and the thermometer as an indicator of what is
being observed.

MATERIALS:
To make put into practice this activity we will need the following materials.
I should bring them by teams:
2 transparent disposable plastic cups and a transparent plastic bag. If I have a digital thermometer, use it.
In the laboratory I will be given the following materials: 50 ml Beaker, Thermometer y Chronometer.
ACTIVITIES:
These activities will be done simultaneously so we have to be alert to the roles that we have in the Little Scientists Teams to do our
job.
The Lab teacher will hand me 2 ice cubes and I will place one on the cup and the other one in the bag.
