First Quarter - MUSIC
DAY 1

I. Objectives

At the end of a 50 minute discussion the students are expected to:

 Discuss the Music of the 20th Century.
 Identify the famous composers during 20th century.
 Discuss the works of the famous composers during 20th century.

II. Subject Matter

Topic: Music of the 20th Century
Reference: Music and Arts Grade 10, internet
Learning Materials: Graphic Organizer and speaker

III. Lesson Proper

A. Recall
The teacher will ask the students about the previous topic.

B. Motivation
GUESS WHO?
Each group will take turns in trying to name each composer until all pictures
have been named:

C. Presentation of the Lesson

The teacher will show different pictures of famous composers during 20 th Century.

D. Development of the Lesson

1. Discuss the Music of the 20th century using power point presentation.
2. Let the students identify the composers during 20th century and discuss their
background.

4. uss the works of the famous composers during 20th century and ask the learner
to share their thoughts and feeling after they listened to the music.
 E. Generalization
The 20th century styles of impressionism and expressionism provided composers
with the opportunity to express their thoughts based on outside impressions as well as
ideas and expressions based on their inner convictions.
Other forms that emanated included neo-classicism, which is a return to the
classical form and structure using modern harmonies and techniques of composition:
avant garde, which deals with the parameters of sound in space: Modern Nationalism,
which is a combination of nationalist thematic materials with the modern techniques of
composition.
