Universal Design for Learning (UDL):

• Students who have difficulties typing will be provided appropriate accommodations such as larger
keyboards or voice to text.
• Students who have difficulties organizing information can change the colors of the bubbles to help
organize information.

Lesson idea implementation:

I will begin by showing a picture of a night scene and ask does this look like daytime or night time. When
students answer, I will ask how they know. I will wait for students to answer with things like stars, moon,
dark, etc. Then I will show students a daytime picture and ask day or night. When they say day, I will ask how
they know and let them answer. I will guide them to name characteristics of both night and day.
As they are listing, I will write the word and draw a picture beside it. For instance, if they say star, I’ll draw
a star beside it so they know what the word is. Next, we will talk about some of the things we do during the
day like go to school. Then we will list things we do at night like sleep. I will then demonstrate to students
how to use Popplet as a reminder.

Reflective Practice:
Students will then create a Popplet. They will have the choice to either list characteristics of night and day
or they can list activities that you typically do during the night and day. They will team up with their partner
and work together to create the Popplet. They can use the words from the board that I wrote as a word bank.
After students are finished their Popplets will be published to the classroom website.
