A Semi-Detailed Lesson Plan in Teaching

Music in Elementary Grades

I. Learning Objectives
At the end of 40 minutes discussion, students are expected to:
a. Identify the different idiophone instruments
b. Value the importance of ethnic musical instruments

II. Subject Matter


A. Topic: Ethnic Musical Instruments (Idiophone Instruments)
B. Target Learners: Grade 6
C. Sub-topic: How to familiarize the different idiophone instruments
D. Instructional Materials: Visual aid, Pictures, Tape, Work sheet, Paper,
Speaker
E. Values: Intelligence and Appreciation

III. Procedure
1. Preliminary Activities
a. Opening Prayer
b. Singing of Philippine National Anthem (Spanish Version) and Dhvtsu
Hymn
c. Greetings
d. Checking of the attendance
e. Setting of classroom standard

2. Review
The teacher will ask a question that was discussed in the past lesson.

IV. Lesson Proper


1. Motivation
“What’s your instrument? challenge”

a. First form a two groups in class that have a five members.


b. Pick a song and then think of strategies that they can create an
instruments out of the things that they are usually have.
c. Sing and perform in a creative way.
d. The best performance will be the winner.
2. Presentation/ Discussion

 Discuss and explain to the class the different aerophone instruments.


 The teacher will present or show some pictures of the particular
instruments for the pupils to familiarize them.

V. Application
The teacher will conduct oral recitation.
VI. Evaluation
The teacher will conduct a group activity and the class will be divided into 4
then, a worksheet will be given each group. Pupils will identify the ethnic group and
location of each aerophone instruments.

VII. Assignment
In assignment notebook, draw the different idiophone instruments and label it.
