The Civil War between CPC & KMT in China (1946-49)

After the end of the Second Sino-Japanese War (1937-45), under the leadership of Mao
Zedong, the CPC (Communist Party of China) had gained much support from the Chinese
people (especially the peasants) during the 2nd Sino-Japanese War. After the end of this war,
the Nationalist (Kuo Min Tang) Government of Chiang Kai-shek was still supported by the
USA because of the complicated situation in Asia under the shadow of the Cold War. The
USA had tried to mediate the 2 sides under General George C. Marshall in Dec 1945 but he
was unsuccessful. Civil war finally broke out between the 2 sides.
