FUSE CHARACTERISTICS

Aim: To plot the fuse characteristics and to determine the fuse constants.

Apparatus Required:
S.No. Name of the Component Specifications Quantity
1 Single Phase Variac
2 Loading Rheostat
3 Fuse – box
4 Ammeter
5 Stop watch

Procedure:
1. Connections are made as per the circuit diagram.
2. Switch on the supply and close the DPST Switch.
3. Now close the SPST switch.
4. Adjust the current to be passed through the circuit with the help of
single phase variac (dimmerstat) and Loading rheostat.
5. Now open the SPST switch and note down the time taken for fusing
using stop watch from the instant of opening the switch.
6. Repeat the same for different values of current settings for the same
length of fuse.
7. Change the length of the fuse and repeat the above procedure.
