C. Post Activity
a. Did you ever wonder how the moon affects the bodies of water on
earth? The moon’s gravitational pull lifts the sea like a wave. The water
rises very slowly because it is a very long moving wave. The wave’s
motion reaches to the bottom of the sea and to the shoreline. This
forward - and backward - moving wave is the tide. Whether the tide is
high or low, Filipinos continuously work for a living regardless of
whether the tide is high or low.

b. The moon’s pull accounts for both high tides and low tides. The
moon pulls hardest on the part of the earth nearest it, lifting the water
on that part of the earth. The water bulges out toward the moon. When
the bulge is greatest, it is high tide. When the moon is on the horizon,
and the bulge is lowest, it is low, or ebb tide. The tide is a commonly
used symbol of life, for it continues to go in and out without stopping.

IV. Evaluation
Paragraph 1
The lion averages about eight to ten feet from the tip of the nose to the tip of
the tail, whereas the tiger exceeds that length by one or two feet. The
largest lions, found in the mountains of Russia near the Arctic Circle, weigh
about 500 pounds. Tigers often weigh 50 to 100 pounds more than these
lions.
Paragraph 2
Both the lion and the tiger hunt other animals for food. Having killed an
animal, they will devour it completely before hunting again. Neither of these
animals are attracted to people, and unless wounded or very old, both stay
away from humans.
Paragraph 3
Did you know that people are the primary enemies of these animals? Many
lion cubs die soon after birth because parasites attack them. Did you know
that there are ten races of African lions?
Paragraph 4
The ostrich stands seven to eight feet high. It may weigh up to 300 pounds.
Although it cannot fly, the speed at which it runs is remarkable. An ostrich
can outrun most of its enemies. Its speed may reach 40 miles an hour. Its
swift steps are twelve to fifteen feet long.
Paragraph 5
In addition to great speed, the ostrich has excellent vision. The ostrich lays
large eggs. Each egg weighs approximately three pounds and its equal in
size to two dozen chicken eggs. That’s quite an omelet! One ostrich is
known to have lived seventy years.
a. Ostrich is a bird that can’t fly.
b. Ostriches live long because they run fast.
c. Ostrich eggs are bigger than those of the chicken.
d. There are more interesting facts about ostrich.
