Description:

Alice George, the Assistant Vice President of marketing at Conman systems is a woman with
strong desire for achievement, pleasing personality and enthusiasm. Her decision four years back
to join Conman Systems is challenging as she has to leave her previous organization because she
needed space to take her own decisions which she found it in Conman Systems. With her
strategic planning and networking capacity she has been instrumental in the rise of company’s
sales. With four years of her contribution as AVP, Conman Systems is among top 10 computer
manufacturing companies in India. Now she is informed about her promotion as Vice President,
Public Relations which she never expected from management side of Conman Systems. Alice
always expected to be promoted as Vice president Marketing in which she already been
successful in market strategies with her effort.

Analysis:

Being Managing Director of a company Amitabh wanted to restructure the business plan to move
towards business computing rather than home computing which Alice has been monitoring in
these four years. He appointed Naik, new general Manager to support Alice in business
computing market where Alice never worked upon. But Alice raised allegation on Naik about his
intention of unethical conduct to bribe some functionalities in client organizations to manager.
As Amitabh decided to avoid hindrance to progress of work, he chooses Naik to continue with
the same positions as he is responsible for both home and business computing operations where
Alice has no experience in both. Amitabh, who is aware of Alice uniqueness to establish
connection with customers and dealers, offered her Vice President (Public Relation) in the
company. As proper evidence plays very key role in corporate decision making, Alice would
have been more conscious before narrating Naik’s attitude to manager.

Problem Statement:
Alice needs to analyze her situation and other alternative options before confirming her position
in Public Relations which is offered by Managing director Amitabh Sen.

Alternatives:
Alice is left with three alternatives for her future career

 Alice can make an effort to showcase Naik’s false attitude with evidence to protect
company’s values of integrity.
 Alice can also accept the new position as VPPR as she is expert in marketing to handle
public relations. With her previous experiences and innovative approach she can handle
diverse customer base in the industry. As she is unique in maintaining her relations with
public and clients, she can be successful in her new position in Public Relations.
 Alice has a choice to reach out for other organization with her past experience as
hardcore marketing professional. She has a choice to select an organization with more
inclusive culture of gender diversity.

Plan of Action:
Finally considering Alice attitude from the beginning she is a woman with strong
intentions and ethics. Alice cannot continue to work along with Naik compromising on
her values. And being ambitious, Alice always wants to be lead in marketing and cannot
settle in a position where she feels it is unfair to diminish her importance in a company.
Alice with her professional and business strategic skills can look for new organization
where she can make her presence is creditable.
