1.0 SCOPE

This specification defines the minimum requirements for the manufacture and supply of
carbon steel forged flanges and fittings for use in the Colombian Projects.

The fittings shall fully meet or exceed the requirements of this and other specifications
referenced herein.

1.2 Definitions

1.2.1 The following apply:


BP BP Exploration (Colombia) Ltd.
BUYER For the purposes of this specification, the Buyer is BP.
ENGINEER The organization or group of organizations that have
been contracted by BP to perform engineering services for BP.
Pipeline Engineer A specialist engineer appointed to design or approve design of
the flowlines.
Materials Engineer A specialist engineer appointed to produce the flange and
fittings material specification, appropriate for the design and
application and to resolve queries concerning application.
SELLER The company or organization contracted to manufacture and
provide flanges and fittings in accordance with the
requirements of this specification and other associated Purchase
Order documents prepared by the ENGINEER and
BUYER.

2.0 REFERENCE DOCUMENTS

The requirements defined in the following referenced documents shall apply to extent
specified herein.

3.0 GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

3.1 Flanges, flange fittings, and anchor flanges shall be supplied in accordance to the sizes and
ratings specified in the purchase order documents.

3.2 Flanges, fittings, and anchor flanges shall be fabricated, inspected, and tested in accordance
MSS-SP 44 and A-694 for flanges including anchor flanges, and MSS SP-75 and A-860 for
fittings and supplemental requirements of this specification.

3.3 All flanges and fittings shall be manufactured from forged steel.

3.4 All flanges including anchor flanges shall be supplied with the weld necks machined to an
end preparation specified by API 5L Section 7.

4.0 MATERIAL REQUIREMENTS

4.1 Pipe flanges, anchor flanges and fittings shall be manufactured from wrought carbon steel.
Fittings shall meet the requirements of MSS SP-75 and ASTM A-860, Grade WPHY 65.
Flanges shall meet the requirements of MSS SP-44 and A-694, Grade F-65.

4.2 Forgings shall be produced from fully-killed steel made to fine grain practice and shall be
supplied in the normalized condition.

4.3 The chemical composition of the flanges and fittings as determined by check (product)
analysis shall meet the following requirements:

The check analysis shall report the trace elements of lead, antimony, and bismuth and the
sum of these elements shall not exceed 0.001 percent.

The carbon equivalent shall not exceed 0.42 when calculated by the IIW formula as
follows:

4.4 Original certified test reports for chemistry and mechanical properties of the flanges and/or
fittings shall be provided the BUYER and shall be reviewed by the BUYER's representative
for acceptance or rejection of the product.

4.5 The specified minimum yield strength of the material shall be 65,000 psi and the specified
minimum tensile strength shall be 77,000 psi.

4.6 Forgings shall be supplied in the normalized or normalized and tempered heat treat
condition. Full details of the intended heat treatments and the resultant material properties
shall be supplied to the BUYER for approval.

4.7 A product analysis shall be performed on one flange of a test forging, per cast for forgings

4.8 The BUYER reserves the right to order additional test for chemistry and mechanical
properties in case of doubts about country origin or uncertified mills, without additional
cost.

5.0 MANUFACTURING REQUIREMENTS

5.1 The manufacturer shall submit to the BUYER for approval, a detailed manufacturing
procedure at the receipt of the purchase order, which includes all manufacturing operations
in correct sequence. The procedure shall include material specifications, forming process,
heat treatment, inspection and testing.

5.2 A manufacturing procedure qualification test shall be required unless the manufacturer
demonstrates to the satisfaction of the BUYER that previous fabrication and testing
experience of similar flanges meets specified requirement. Otherwise, a manufacturing
procedure qualification test shall be provided.

5.3 Weld repairs to forgings shall not be allowed and are cause for rejection of the forging.

5.4 Minor defects may be removed by grinding, provided that the forging shall meet the minimum
requirements of the flange rating, the remaining wall thickness is not less than 94% of the
nominal wall thickness and there is a smooth transition between the ground area and the
original contour. Cracks may not be repaired and are cause for rejection. If the flange
requires a groove, no defects in the groove are permitted.

5.5 5.Where flanges are machined they shall meet the following surface texture requirement as

5.6 The peripheries of the flanges are to be machined within +/- 1.0 mm.

5.7 Flanges shall not have machining on the back face. The hub section shall be grit blasted and
all scale removed.

5.8 Identification marks shall be clearly visible on the flange peripheries.

5.9 All burrs and sharp edges shall be removed.

5.10 All welding preparations and joint faces shall be square to the axis of the fitting within a
tolerance of 2.5 mm.

5.11 The bolt circle shall be concentric with the flange and within tolerance limits of +/- 1.5 mm.
Additionally, the chordal pitch of the bolt holes shall be within +/- 1.5 mm.

5.12 The inside diameter of the bore shall be machined to match the internal diameter of the
pipe. The tolerance on the internal diameter shall be the nominal internal diameter + 2.4
mm and - 0.8 mm.

6.0 MECHANICAL TESTING AND INSPECTION

6.1 The forgings shall be sound and free from defects such as cracks, scabs and laminations.
Defects in forgings shall not be repaired unless approved by the BUYER's representative.

6.2 A mechanical test specimen shall be taken to represent each heat-treated batch of each heat
of material.

6.3 Fracture toughness shall be determine by the use of the Charpy V-Notch test in accordance
with ASTM A-370 (Type A notch). The test shall be conducted at 32°F. For acceptance,
the average of three individual full size specimens from each heat lot of flange or fitting
material shall not be less than 35 ft/lb with the lowest value of any specimen of 25 ft/lb.
Charpy specimens shall exhibit 80% shear fracture appearance minimum for acceptance.

6.4 Tensile test specimens shall be prepared and tested in accordance with ASTM A-370. The
minimum yield strength shall be 65,000 psi and the minimum tensile strength shall be
77,000 psi.

6.5 The maximum hardness of the flanges and fittings shall not exceed Rockwell C 20. The hardness
survey shall be carried out on heat-treated flange specimens for each heat-treated lot. Two
flanges or fittings from each lot shall be tested.

6.6 Mill test reports

7.0 NON-DESTRUCTIVE EXAMINATION

7.1 All weld ends shall be 100% ultrasonically examined for lamination type defects
circumferencially and for a distance (width) of 2 inches around the weld neck. Laminations
shall be cause for rejection.

7.2 After final machining, all bevel surfaces shall be subjected to a wet magnetic particle
inspection in accordance with ASME Section V. Any laminations shall be cause for
rejection.

8.0 ANCHOR FLANGES

8.1 All anchor flange dimensions shall be as calculated by the manufacturer for the design
conditions specified herein, and as approved by the BUYER.

8.2 Anchor flange SELLER shall submit manufacturer's stress calculations substantiating the
design conditions defined in this Specification.

8.3 Anchor flange SELLER shall submit a dimensional drawing of each flange size similar to
sample shown in Figure 1 in this Specification.

8.4 Anchor flanges shall be bored to match the inside diameter of the pipe, as given in
Appendix A of this Specification.

8.5 Anchor flanges shall be designed for the maximum design pressures as given in Appendix A
of this Specification.

8.6 Anchor flanges ends shall be beveled and tapered at each end.

8.7 Anchor flange ends shall match the pipe outside diameters and wall thicknesses as given in
Appendix A of this Specification.

9.0 MARKING

9.1 Each flange and fitting shall be tagged with a stainless steel plate attached permanently to
the flange. The plate shall display the following information:
1) Purchase Order Number
2) BP Exploration (Colombia) Ltd.
4) Maximum design pressure

9.2 Each flange and fitting shall be marked on the rim with the following information:
1) Manufacturer's name
2) Diameter and wall thickness
3) ASTM material designation and laboratory code number
4) Design axial thrust
5) Temperature differential
6) Internal design factor per ANSI B31.4

10.0 PACKAGING AND SHIPPING

10.1 An anti-corrosion coating shall be applied to all faces. This coating shall be submitted to
the BUYER for approval. In addition, all flanges are to be protected using wood covers for
the flange face and the weld bevel. Fitting shall have end caps.

10.2 Shipping instructions will be defined in the purchase order documents.
