DIVISION OF NEGROS OCCIDENTAL
AMAYCO ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

“Children are the future of the world and their knowledge should be something that we
all invest into”. Thus, DepEd launches the Oplan Kalusugan sa Department of Education (OK sa
DepEd) which is convergence of DepEd’s health programs, plans, policies, and activities for
their effective and efficient implementation at the school level, in partnership with various stake
holders.

One of the major school health programs of the Department is Drug Education
Campaign. National drug education program, on the other hand, aims to integrate drug
education in the curriculum, a holistic approach to reduce the drug problem in the Philippines.
The National drug education program also aims to prevent drug abuse among students through
the development of desirable values, attitudes and practices and to promote people
empowerment in leading a healthy lifestyle that is drug free and productive.

In response to, Amayco Elementary School joins in implementing the “One Health
Week” . The learners, parents, LGU Officers, headed by Brgy. Kagawad George Guanzon, July
C. Bayudang, Amayco E/S Principal, Police Chief Inspector Roberto V. Indiape Jr,Municipal
Police Station Commander together with their team, and teachers conduct the said program
with a symposium about Drugs.

They educate learners and parents about the two kinds of Drugs and their effects which
is “shabu and marijuana”. According to them, when kids experiment with drugs it places them
in a high-risk category for developing eventual drug tolerance, dependence, and addiction.
Children are the future of our world and their knowledge should be something that we all invest
into.

Proper education about substance abuse is a crucial preventative measure for kids and
teenagers. When adults share factual information about substance abuse, it helps kids develop
a better sense of drug abuse awareness. Without proper educational measures about the
harmful effects of drugs, kids may develop increased risks for becoming curious about drugs,
falling prey to peer pressure, and try drugs themselves. The program ended with a closing
remark rendered by Mrs. Helen A. Guanzon, NDEP Chairman. The said activity ended
substantially.
