Title: Drug Awareness and Prevention Symposium

Participants Profile
The participants of this activity are the grade IV-VI pupils of Datu
Ampunan Elementary School:

Competency being Developed Holistic development

Background Because of the rapid increase of crime rates and drug abuse in the
country, educating the youth, who are subject to temptation for illegal
drugs, is needed. In view of the urgent need the Department of
Education (DepEd) is strengthening its National Drug Education
Program (NDEP) to protect pupils from the adverse effects of
dangerous drugs. The NDEP is comprehensive educational
program, which provides a holistic approach in preventing and
eliminating the menace of drugs in the country.

As a partner in the holistic growth of every child, Datu Ampunan

Elementary School formulates and implements a localized
school wide information dissemination campaign against Drug
Addiction.

The Symposium made use of flip charts and video clip

presentation which give knowledge and ideas about drugs and the
different ways in dealing and preventing illegal drugs.

Rationale and Description Drug Awareness and Prevention Symposium is a campaign

that aims to raise awareness of the major problems that
illicit drugs present to society and at the same time, reminds
the pupils not to make the mistake of experimenting with
drug.

This symposium is designed to provide an open and

comfortable atmosphere for learning by employing simple,
practical details regarding the harmful effects of illegal
drugs that are easy for our pupils to comprehend.
SCHOOL LEVEL
This activity aims to :

1. Educated the pupils about drug addiction.

2. Raise awareness of the major problem that illicit drugs
3. To protect pupils from the adverse effects of dangerous drugs
4. Prevent illegal drugs.
