“Development and Validation of Instructional Modules on

Introduction to Life Science, Biogenetics and Perpetuation

of Life”

Instructional materials are one of the key sources of

quality classroom instruction and students’ achievement. As

a teacher, we are always wanted to explore instructional

design that suitable for a wide range of learning

environment. A Modular instructional material is an

individualized learning wherein the students do their tasks

on their own to achieve mastery of the lesson before moving

on to another lesson and helps the students to catch up with

the missed lessons.

This study, development and validation of instructional

module consisted of three content areas. First, the lesson

on introduction to life science consisted of 3 learning

competencies, second, lessons on bioenergetics consisted of

3 learning competencies and finally, the lesson on

perpetuation of life consisted of 3 learning competencies.

According to Malone (2008), learner-centered instruction

reportedly benefits students’ acquisition, retention,

transfer of knowledge, self-awareness, critical thinking and

motivations. Thus, the main purpose of this study is to

develop and validate instructional module on speed, velocity

and acceleration in providing students’ opportunities to

direct their own learning through the use on modules.

The researcher will utilize the design and

developmental research approach to establish empirical basis

in developing instructional output.

In utilization of design, the researcher use ADDIE

( Analysis, Design, Development, Implement, Evaluate).

The participants of study are the students of Nueva

Ecija High School. Two sections assigned to the researchers’

itself will be used as the respondents of the study.

With regards to the data needed, evaluation checklist

and series of tests for each instructional module may

employs.

In data analysis, the researcher utilizes descriptive

statistics such as frequency count, percentage, standard

deviation in analyzing ratings of evaluation and series of

tests. In order to compare the evaluation ratings between

expert evaluator and students’ evaluation t-test tool is

use. And to ascertain the effectiveness of instructional

module t-test may also employ.
