PRESENTATION, ANALYSIS AND INTERPRETATION OF DATA

This chapter deals with the presentation, analysis and interpretation of data gathered in
connection with the main problem of this research work.
The data concerning the values integration of the Music, Arts, Physical Education, and
Health (MAPEH) Program were presented, analyzed and interpreted in response to the specific
problems in this investigation. In the presentation of data, each objective was shown in
corresponding tables in order to give a more meaning and clear presentation to each particular
problem.

The Profile of Student-Respondents in Western Visayas

It is evident in Table 4, that there are 15 (10. 86% ) students who are about 17 - 18
years old,79 (57.42%) fall within the 19-20 and bracket and 44 (31.88%) comprise the 21 up
age bracket. This data implies that majority of the student-respondents aged 19 to 20 years old
out of the 138 third and fourth MAPEH students enrolled from the selected six universities in
Western Visayas during the academic year 2008-2009. Figure 2 illustrates the distribution of
students by age.
On the variable sex, there are 87 (63.04%) female and 51(36.95%) male respondents.
This data signifies that there are more female students than the male from the total of 138
respondents enrolled in the six selected universities in Western Visayas. Figure 3 illustrates the
distribution of students by sex .
On the variable religious affiliation, there are 103(74/63%) Catholics and 35 (25.36%)
non-Catholics. The data somehow indicates that most of the respondents are enrolled in religious
institutions. Figure 4 reflects the distribution of students by religious affiliation.
On type of school, there are 52 (37.68%) students who are enrolled in private sectarian
universities, 35(25.16%) came from private non-sectarian institution and 51 (36.95%) belong to
a state university. This data signifies the trending in enrollment that in most cases, a high school
student who finished his/her secondary education from a private school would prefer to enroll in
tertiary private academic institution. In the same manner, some students who earned their
secondary education from a public institution would prefer to earn a degree from private school
or from public state institution. Figure 5 illustrates the distribution of students by type of school.
On the variable participation in activities, 36 (26.08%) students engage in sports,
34(24.63%) participate in dance and 68 (49.27%) take part in both sports and dance. With the
majority of the students involve in sports and dance activities, this data signifies that MAPEH
students are dynamic, versatile and exposed to varied physical endeavors. Figure 6 illustrates the
distribution of students by participation in activities.
As gleaned from Table 5 on the variable age, there are four ( 13.75%) teachers who are
below 30 years old, 15 (51.72%) belong to the 30 to 39 age bracket, five (17.24%) from 40 to
49 years old and five(17.24%) fall within 50 to 59 age range. This data implies that majority of
the teacher-respondents are middle-aged professionals. Figure 7 reflects the distribution of
teachers by age.
On the variable sex, there are 17(58.17%) female and 12(41.37%) male teacher-
respondents. This data signifies that there are more female teachers in the six universities

a female–dominated profession. Figure 8 illustrates the distribution of teachers by sex.
On the variable religious affiliation, there are 19 (65.51%) teachers who are catholic and

the respondents while the non-Catholic comprised the minority of the teacher population. Figure
