WORKING EXPERIENCE

 I have been working in the Fire &Rescue Driver Operator, Fire & Rescue Department,
Prince Mohamed Bin AbdulazizInternational Airport, Madinah, KSA, 25th October 2013
to up to now.
During my carrier in this organization in addition to the attendance of emergency calls
such as fire airport inside and outside (aircraft incident, aircraft refueling and defueling
stand by, Hot work inspection, confined space inspection, working at high inspection and
fire extinguishers inspection.
I have responsibility for driving fire & rescue appliances for the emergency

I have been appointed as a trainee fireman in the Fire Unit of Colombo Dockyardfrom
21st November 1996.During this period I have gained basic knowledge of firefighting in
dockyard and ships.

I have been confirmed atthe post of fireman in the same organisation from 1997 to 2000.
During that period, in addition to the routing duty I have attended fires in oil tankers,
cargo ships (at engine and pump room) and military boat.

Council :-
I have been working in the Fire Service Department of Dehiwala – Mount Lavinia
Municipal Council from 1st December 2000 to 2013.
During my carrier in this organisation, in addition to the attendance of emergency calls
such as fire (domestic and industrial), search and rescue, road traffic accidents,
ambulance and chemical incidents, etc I have been fulfilling many activities as
mentionedbelow.
1. Maintenance of appliances and equipment –
Checking of vehicle inventories and servicing of all the equipment at workable
condition. The defective equipment is replaced under the supervision of senior
fire officers. Refill the consumable materials such as fuel for pumps and
machines as well as air for breathing apparatus cylinders.
2. Training –
All the firefighters in my organisation have been attending both of theory and
practical training programs. Some of these programs are;
I. Wearing and maintenance of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
including Breathing Apparatus (BA).
II. Handling various kinds of modern firefighting equipment, machines and
materials including hydraulic pumps and tools.
III. Techniques and safety procedures of firefighting and rescue operations.
IV. Casualty handling techniques, first aid and emergency medical
technician (EMT).
V. BA training in confined spaces under dark and smoke condition.
VI. Use of firefighting media such as water, foam, CO2 and Dry Chemical
powder.
VII. Proper procedures of use of communication equipment (VHF radio
communication, telephone) for exchanging information clearly.
VIII. Pumps drills (dry and wet) and water relay systems.
IX. Handling chemicals, safety and decontamination procedures.
X. Rope rescue techniques including ascending and descending.

 3. Self development –
I have been exercising physical training for maintenance fitness, endurance and
health conditions, engaging leadership management programs, committing
voluntary to the public awareness programs and evacuation drill as well as
reading many things about fire relevant for building my capacity to perform the
job effectively and efficiently.
