SENIOR ENGINEER

Summary

Position Title: Senior Engineer
Business Unit: Project Services
Location: Head Office / Local Branch
Reports To: National Head of Projects

Position Summary
The Senior Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, testing and commissioning of
control systems according to project requirements. The Senior Engineer may be required to take on
lead engineering roles or provide support to lead engineers as required.

Major Accountabilities
 The Senior Engineer will be responsible for either DCS, SIS, Hardware, Network or SCADA
Systems and may be multi-skilled in two or more of these areas.
 As a lead engineer on projects, be responsible for the delivery of the project in accordance
with the schedule, standards and quality requirements.
 If reporting to a lead engineer, assist the lead engineer in coordinating and conducting
relevant engineering activities to ensure projects are executed in a safe, efficient, cost
effective and timely manner to customer’s specifications.
 Provide direction to engineering staff on design and implementation processes. Assist in the
understanding and translation of client design requirements and the development of function
design specifications.
 Facilitate decisions and resolve project issues with the project members. Identify project risks
and provide direction for the mitigation of these risks.
 Supervise the design, implementation and testing of the process control configuration for
Yokogawa control systems.
 Ensure the project conforms to the client’s approved Basis of Design and all applicable
regulatory and code requirements.
 Mentoring younger engineers in the development of their professional skills in the relevant
areas of controls systems design and implementation.

Selection Criteria
Qualifications
 Degree in either electrical, mechatronics, mechanical or chemical engineering

Skills
 Ability to lead projects/teams
 Effective team player

 System Integration and Testing experience
 Awareness of relevant AS standards
 Proven problem solving skills
 Ability to interpret customer specifications into designs.
 Ability to use engineering software
 High level of attention to detail

Experience
 At least 8 years’ experience working in the process control industry
 Prior experience working on sites

The work performed under the control of Yokogawa where the above applies, may be performed by
those employed by the organization, external providers, contractors, individuals, agency workers, and
by other persons to the extent the organization shares control over their work or work- related
activities, according to the context of Yokogawa.

Responsibilities Associated with Indigenous Australians

 Attend events organised by Yokogawa that celebrate significant Indigenous events such as
NAIDOC Week, National Reconciliation Week and the Coming of the light;
 Where applicable, establish positive working relationships with the traditional owners of the
land on which you are required to travel;
 Understand and follow specific cultural practices when visiting remote Aboriginal and Torres
Strait Islander communities (including but not limited to gaining required permits, observing
bans on alcohol, dressing appropriately, and use of petrol)
