IV – PROJECT BACKGROUND:

Governmental concern with the physical fitness of every Filipino youth is stimulated by the fact that the
strength of our democracy depend on the collective well-being of our people. The vigor of our country rests on
the level of physical, mental, moral and spiritual fitness of every Filipino citizen.

The need for the increased attention to the physical fitness of our youth is new recognition. Although
today’s youth are fundamentally healthier than the youth of any previous generation, the majority of them have
not developed strong, agile bodies. It is therefore of great importance that we take immediate steps to ensure
that every Filipino child be given the opportunity to make himself physically fit to learn, fir to understand, to
grow in grace and stature and to live life fully.

In answering this challenge, the Department of education have long been making strenuous efforts to
assist our young people attain and maintain good health and physical fitness. Many students in the Secondary
School are trained to play competitive games. Annual sports competitions are held to provide them with
opportunity to pursue higher level of physical activity and to show their athletic excellence.

V. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT:

The MSSAA 2017 will be held at 73IB Philippine Military ground, Felis, Malita, Davao Occidental on
September 14-16, 2017.
The athletic delegation of B’laan National High School will be composed of Secondary school students
who were selected during the recently concluded school and district level competitions. These athletes will
compete on the following sports events on this forthcoming meet:

Taekwondo (Boys and Girls)

Chess (Boys and Girls)
Badminton (Boys and Girls)
Volleyball (Boys and Girls)
Badminton (Boys and Girls)
Billiards (Boys and Girls)
Wushu (Boys and Girls)
Running Events (Boys and Girls)
Athletics (Boys and Girls)
Softball/Baseball (Boys and Girls)
Boxing Boys
Basketball (Boys and Girls)

VI – BUDGETARY REQUIREMENT

The Local School Board of the Municipality of Malita allocated an amount of FifteenThousand pesos
(P15, 000.00) as financial aid to the secondary school athletes of B’laan National High School who will
participate in the 2017 MSSAA Meet. This amount which shall be taken from the LSB Special education fund
shall apportioned as travelling allowance of the athletes and delegation heads who will accompany them.

VII – EXPECTED IMPACT:

It is expected that physical education as an integral part of human learning will help students attain and
maintain that degree of physical fitness which will lead to later life accomplishments.
