DETAILED LESSON PLAN OUTLINE

UNIT : 2

LESSON : EMERGENCY RESCUE AND TRANSFER

SUGGESTED TIME: 1 HOUR

TRAINING AIDS NEEDED: FLIPCHART, PROJECTOR, LCD

OBJECTIVES: Upon completion of this training, participants will be able to:

 Identify 4 lifting and moving techniques;


 Learn the proper body mechanics for 1-Man and 2-Men Carry techniques
 Perform two techniques of 1-Man and 2-Men Carry

When do we use the lifting and moving techniques/ Emergency

to intense weather situation
Criteria for Selection of Methods of Transfer?

 Nature and severity of the injury


 Distance and evacuation route
 Gender of the Victim
 Size of the Victim
 Physical capabilities of the responder

Principles of Body Mechanics:

FC 5  Maintain a straight back / Use good posture


 Use leg, hip and buttock muscle
 Have a firm grip on the stretcher or patient
 Keep the patient’s weight close to your body
 Maintain a low center of gravity
 Do not twist with lifting
FC 6  Move forward rather than backward

II. PRESENTATION/DEMONSTRATION

Break

1. 1-Man Carry
- Open the slide
- Verify after each step.
 Cradle’s Carry
1. Position yourself at the back of the patient in -Applies to all
straddle position

 4-Hand Seat Carry


1. 1st Responder: Position yourself at the back of the
patient in straddle position; hold both wrists of the
patient and bring it to the center of his body
(If women, hold the elbow bring it to the
center of her body); and move to his side -Applies to all
while his arm around your neck. Make sure types of
that your hand supports the back of the emergency
patient.

2nd Responder: Position yourself at the other -Conscious


side of the patient; with his other arm around
your neck; Perform Toe-to-toe position with
FC 12-14
the 1st responder, while 1 hand supports the
back of the patient.

3. Instruct the patient to sit on your lap

technique
5. Slowly lift the patient. Instruct the patient that you
will execute in 3 counts
6. At the command of the 1st responder, walk with
inner foot first.
7. Walk faster than normal while proceeding to the
safer area.
 Hand-as-a-Litter Carry
1. 1st Responder: Position yourself at the back of the
patient in straddle position; hold both wrists of the
patient and bring it to the center of his body
(If women, hold the elbow bring it to the center
of her body); and move to his side while his arm -Applies to all
around your neck. Make sure that your hand

supports the back of the patient.

FC 15-18 2nd Responder: Position yourself at the other side
of the patient; with his other arm around your -Semi-conscious
neck; Perform Toe-to-toe position with the 1st
responder, while 1 hand supports the back of the
patient.

will execute in 3 counts
6. At the command of the 1st responder, walk with
inner foot first.
7. Walk faster than normal while proceeding to the
safer area

Bladder Break : 5 mins.

III. PRACTICAL EXERCISE


1. Divide the group into 2
2. Proceed to the break-out area
- Group 1 : Mark – Silver Room (1-man carry)
- Group 2 : Allan – Thai Function (1- man carry)
3. Duration: 5 mins per station = 10 mins.

Advise participants to return to the classroom.

Ask if participants have questions.
