Strict parenting can negatively impact student behavior. Research has found that children raised by harsh or strict parents are more likely to engage in risky sexual behavior, violence, theft, and dropping out of high school or college. They may also be more likely to consider suicide. Strict parenting can affect a student's ability to learn and their actions in the classroom. Balancing firmness with warmth and flexibility may help reduce the potential negative effects of strict parenting on student behavior and outcomes.

THE STUDENTS OF LEGACY OF WISDOM ACADEMY By: Zhynex Montallana, Faith Paladin and Jamaica Carandang
BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
Parents have different ways in parenting their child. Some are nice and sweet, some are firm and strict, and some just let their child do what they want. Children or youths of today still have limited knowledge about the world and so, they depend on the persons or things around them to know more. Specifically, parents. Knowledge that may affect the behavior of the child as a student at school (CONNOR, SCOTT) Student behavior also plays a major role in academic achievement as it can affect his or her ability to learn as well as impact the learning environment for other students. There are vast amount of behaviors students shows inside the classroom like those who are dedicated in learning while some are juvenile and lazy that shows how much behavior can affect the student for it influences the student’s actions. (THOMPSON) There has also been reports of students who committed actions of taking their own lives where parenting clearly influenced the action, parenting that is more known as the authoritarian parenting. (TURNER) Researchers also found out that females raised by harsh parents were more likely to engage in more frequent early sexual behavior, while males were more likely to turn to hitting and stealing. Both genders were more likely to drop out of high school or college. (YOUNG) These behaviors all connects to the effects of strict parenting. With this learnings, parents may lead to a better method to raise their children. Being strict and firm is nice but everything should be balanced. Balancing the way on how to raise their child may be a good solution to reduce the negative effects of strict parenting.
