REORGANIZING THE BARANGAY DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL

WHEREAS, Section 106 of the Local Government Code of 1991 provides that each local
government unit shall have a comprehensive multi-sectoral development councils and
approved by its sanggunian;

WHEREAS, in order for this barangay to comply with this mandate. There is a need for
the reactivation and reorganization of the Barangay Development Council to assist the
Sangguniang Barangay in setting the direction of the economic and social development
as well as coordinating development efforts within the barangay;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, _____________________________, Punong Barangay,


_______________, Tigbao, Zamboanga del Sur, by the power vested in me as the Chief
Executive of this Barangay, do hereby order:

SECTION 1. COMPOSITION. The Barangay Development Council shall be composed of


the following:

SECTION 2. FUNCTIONS OF THE BDC. The Barangay Development Council shall


perform the following functions:

1. Mobilize people’s participation in local development efforts.


2. Prepare barangay development plans based on local requirements.
3. Monitor and evaluate the implementation of national or local programs and
projects
4. Perform such other functions as may be provided by law or competent authority.
SECTION 3. BDC EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE. The BDC Executive Committee shall be
composed of the following:

SECTION 4. FUNCTIONS OF THE BDC EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE. The BDC Executive


Committee shall perform the following functions:

1. Represent and acts in behalf of the BDC when the latter is not in session
2. It shall ensure that the decisions of the council are faithfully carried out and
implemented
3. Act on matters requiring immediate attention or action by the council
4. Formulate policies, plans and programs based on the general principle laid down
by the council, and
5. Act on matters that may be authorized by the council.

SECTION 5. SECRETARIAT. The Barangay Secretary shall head the secretariat


of the Barangay Development Council and shall be assisted by the Municipal
Planning and Development Coordinator.

SECTION 6. MEETINGS. The Barangay Development Council shall meet at least


once in every six (6) months or as often as may be necessary.

SECTION 7. EFFECTIVITY. This order shall take effect immediately.
