The temperature at the start of compression in an air-standard diesel cycle is


300K and the pressure is 1 bar. If the compression ratio and cut-off ratio are
18 and 2, respectively. Determine using cold-air standard analysis
(a) the temperature and pressure at the end of each process of the cycle,
(b) the thermal efficiency,
(c) the mean effective pressure, in MPa.

Assignment : Carry out an exact analysis to determine the percentage error in


the thermal efficiency obtained by using cold air standard assumption.
